No doubt that Roo would have sounded out Paul Roos to get the inside info on Dew, given at Roos was prepared to hand Dew the next Melb Coach in waiting without speaking to any other candidates is a glowing endorsement in itself

Wasnt Roo in Melbourne recently? Like last week or something? It could explain a possible meeting.

It would be disappointing if most of the assistant coaches stayed. Especially after Fagan saying that we need the right people in the right places. Our current group aren't the right people. They are stale and haven't proven to be any good.

Agree with this. The clear implication was that we currently had the wrong people in those seats.

That's one good thing we've done - the CEO and coach sacking have been kept under wraps. No leaks (assuming we haven't signed Clarkson but if we have I forgive us!)

As much as I would love Clarkson, I can't see how that will ever happen unless the AFC does what it says it want's to do and actually buys one of the best coaches in the land. All coaches are gettable at the right price, if not now, then when their contracts allow. Big words have come from the club

The clubs words on it so far:

• Want a premiership coach - clarified that they mean someone who will be able to take us to our next premiership, not necessarily someone who has already won one.
• If they get a rookie coach, they will surround him with experience, if an experienced coach, they will surround him with youth.
• They will not provide a running commentary of our search for a coach.

and I'm saying Bassett just doesn't fit the big words. This will end in disappointment for most of us unless Bass is appointed and you think Bassett is a better choice than everyone else.

I think you are going to chuck a tantrum regardless, unfortunately.

If we don't do something unprecedented and poach the current premiership coach, who has just defended a premiership and is currently contracted, you'll consider it a failure.

I very much rate what Bassett did at Norwood, and if it was him with an experienced assistant would be very happy.

If I had the choice of predicting success from Clarkson or bassett…hmmm let me think about that.

When the Hawks picked up Clarkson, who would you have predicted would have more success.

I think the AFC would have got Bassett announced asap, I dont think they would have waited. I also believe they had already someone lined up too. Just my thoughts. The fact they waited till after the grand final makes me feel it is Dew.

Well he does have good credentials amongst the assistants. Would prefer Bass, but I would be happy with Dew.

I guess I want someone that can implement a game plan that suits us, that knows our strengths and weaknesses, that can pick the right players on Thursday night and can make changes on game day in the box to win games.
