So ROK leap frogs being an assistant to becoming a senior assistant. he must be damn good.

That I dont know, but then Truck is now at the Tigers, while I would want an experienced head in the box we can only get those that are available to us. ie. We cant poach assistants to be our assistants.

But our Club should have 1 year contracts, that only get extended after success and the likelihood of us progressing further.

If you only offer 1 year contracts you will struggle to attract candidates

McKenna could be available soon. Wouldn't push for our senior coaching position but maybe as an assistant. Too sunny on the GC for a ranga anyway.

The clubs words on it so far:
  • Want a premiership coach - clarified that they mean someone who will be able to take us to our next premiership, not necessarily someone who has already won one.
  • If they get a rookie coach, they will surround him with experience, if an experienced coach, they will surround him with youth.
  • They will not provide a running commentary of our search for a coach.

I think you are going to chuck a tantrum regardless, unfortunately.

If we don't do something unprecedented and poach the current premiership coach, who has just defended a premiership and is currently contracted, you'll consider it a failure.

I very much rate what Bassett did at Norwood, and if it was him with an experienced assistant would be very happy.

When the Hawks picked up Clarkson, who would you have predicted would have more success.

Clarkson, Thompson, or Malthouse?
No need to go all Lindy, Chapman's and Roo's radio interviews did actually pump it up more than the sanitised statement they released afterwards. Right now if there was a choice Ckarkson or Bassett? You'd have to be bloody stupid not to back Clarkson. Bass is not the superman superbrain you are making him out to be.

Lol, which one of us is the one having the hysterical over-reaction? You're the one who is going to throw the toys out of the pram if we don't get Clarkson. I'm the one taking the club at their word that they'll get the person they think can take us to a flag.

It isn't Clarkson = good, Bassett = bad. Both have shown they can take a team and turn it around for sustained success.

You are going to be pissed if it is a rookie coach. In fact I'll bet you'll be pissed if it is anyone except Clarkson.

Rowey reported weeks ago that they'd approached Walsh but he's staying at Port.

Sando said then that Walsh wouldn't be at Adelaide next year

Maybe he just got the wrong person..
Or that Walshy didnt want to be assistant coach, but senior coach.......
It makes sense with what Rowey had been saying in that "its a name that hasnt been in the top list" "they are looking for the next Ken"
To be honest I hadnt thought of him. But he has apprenticed under Mark Williams, Worsfold and now Ken. Was involved with premierships at two clubs, and they say he is one of the best match day coaches in the game.

Phil Walsh? I didn't even know he was a coach, I thought he was more involved in the sports science and performance side of things?

Where has Walsh's name come from? I'm not familiar with him. What's he done, and who has he been involved with?

Does anyone have any fresh rumours? Make one up I don't care, I'm just want something to pass the time until we name our coach

My next door neighbour coached the under 9's team to a premiership this year. Admittedly it was with a rugby league team but hey surely that's better than what we have right at this moment :)

Are you saying your next door neighbour has reportedly been offered the crows coaching job? Interesting....

Edit: It all makes sense with the Fagan rubgy connection and everything :p
