The moment I read it's anyone but Clarkson:

Even if it's Longmire, Lyon, Malthouse or Bomber?

If Croweater78 is to be believed and this appointment actually is the 'coup of the century', the new coach simply can not be any name other than one of these 5 (including Clarkson). Or Roos, but we all know that isn't happening. Or Chris Scott - again, not happening.

Guys like Bassett, Dew, Tudor, Montgomery, Ratten and Bolton would not be coups AT ALL - they are little puppy dogs who would cut off their own arms for a senior coaching gig anywhere. I'd argue Worsfold isn't a coup (certainly doesn't warrant 'coup of the century' status in my eyes - he was absolutely taking the piss in his last year of coaching and I don't really think any other club would want him).

So unless Croweater78 has absolutely no comprehension of the word 'coup', what he/she is saying is that our next coach is any one of Alastair Clarkson, John Longmire, Ross Lyon, Mick Malthouse or Mark Thompson.

If anyone else is announced it will be clear to all that Croweater78 is a troll and has been feeding us bullshit from day 1. I'd argue that their account should be permanently banned if this scenario eventuates to be honest.

However, if one of these 5 is announced, Croweater78 gets huge props for having an excellent source who can be trusted in the future.

We'll know within the next day or 3. :straining:

My money is on Basset for the head coach with Vossy as senior assistant, Dasher keeps his job with the backs, ROK gets midfield,Lade rucks and ?? for the forwards. Oh and Bicks to coach the 2's

Not a bad proposal, Blake Caracella as forwards coach to fill your gaps!

Can't see voss wanting to coach again though

So today is the first big announcement option from the various rumours! (with Thurs and Weekend/beyond being the other main ones).

My bet is Thursday so I'm not getting too excited yet.

C'mon Freddy!!!!!

Whoever the coach is I hope the AFC moves beyond the old school line/zone coaches. Football has moved on from your typical forward, midfield, etc. coaches. Offense is not just about those in the forward line and likewise defense applies to the entire team as soon as we lose possession.

I want to see new coaching duties added that reflect the modern game, such as transition(offensive and defensive), team offensive strategy, team defense strategy, etc.

Rooch: But there always is a sideshow to fill in the gap. And today we have been promised the arrival of Clarkson to be the Crows’ new saviour. Let’s hope the red carpet is back in time from the cleaners.

So croweater is rooch?

What about Leigh Matthews?

Old Lethal ey. I'm a big fan of everything he's achieved in the past as a player and coach but he's too long out of the game now. Wouldn't even be on the radar.

Would definitely go for Matthews in a director of coaching/senior assistant role, provided he and Bass get along of course...

The coach has to be experienced.

Watching that "The Chosen Few" for a second time last night just re-inforced how important that experience is.

Lyon
Roos
Clarkson
Horse
Malthouse
Sheedy

They just look in a different league.

When you hear them talk about what is essential - and they all say it's the ability to communicate and have empathy - to inspire - and to keep your sense of humour ... we were on a road to nowhere with Sanderson.

That actually sounds like a good idea. Could break up the coaching department into:

Head Coach
Back Coach
Forward Coach
Midfield Coach
Defensive strategy coach
Offensive strategy coach

Your line coaches work as per normal but the other 2 can focus on teaching team defense and team offence. Would rather be heavy on coaches than light like the last few years.
