As opposed to the Clarko Theory, which is people convincing themselves that the desired outcome is the most likely outcome :)
Now transferred to the hitherto un mentioned Walsh. It's ridiculous and shows people up.

Not sure what year that was. Its a pity we had the wrong Mack from that family.

Don't know how he kept his spot on list for this year. Can't see him getting another crack elsewhere but good luck to him if he does. Otherwise he can ride the coattails of his bro's sporting tours business. What a job that is!

I think a Victorian Club may take a punt on him, I could easily see the Blues rolling the dice with him after losing Waite. The irony is that Waite contributed more on the sidelines than Smack did in 2014.

Do you think Alan Stewart would of been the one to recommend Walsh? They Were at Port together during their successful period and their premiership. Alan probably would know if he is up to it or not. I trust his judgment, very intelligent man. Don't trust a lot of the people who work at the Crows but I think our selection panel have a few people on it that know what they're doing.

In saying this I wanted Bass and if we have made a mistake. Sack them all ;)

How many AFL coaching selection panels have you been on GROTTO? What level of experience do you have in establishing someone's credentials to lead others? Do you have experience at the highest level of football in some capacity?

I'm going to guess all of your qualifications on these respective fronts fall considerably short of the coaching selection panel we've run with. Since that's the case I'm going to respectfully disregard your opinion and trust in the process the club has taken/is undertaking on this one.

There's nothing wrong with feeling bad for Bass and perhaps even pining for what could have eventuated had he been selected but the selection panel has deemed he wasn't the strongest candidate for the job. Trust their judgment and give whoever they choose a chance. Make sure you keep the faith with the roovolution - It's taking shape nicely.

Not a fan of this line of thinking. Just because they're the "professionals" doesn't mean they always make the right decisions. Sometimes the "commoners" such as us would make better decisions than the "professionals do (case in point Sando's team selections this year when we were all crying out for something different). GROTTO and others here may well be right - Bassett may be the best man for the job. We'll have to wait and see whether the club made the right decision turning him down.

Malthouse .... McKernan. Can't see that working!

Juries are used with the very same reasoning.

I just hope it's not another opportunity for the pear to insert their made up sound bite "Club of choice" (keep saying it at every opportunity and all the media will be salivating and repeating it as fact!) I can see it now " The Crows desperately tried to lure Phil Walsh, Phil said no way man, the power is a club of choice! The Power triumph again!".... Signed Rucci. Meanwhile Roo and Fagan are going "what the?"

They are getting desperate to try and force the Crows to confirm or deny.......anything!!

All good things to those who wait.......

Seeing there's been so many Rucci mentions in here, I do recall that Rucci and Walsh actually hated each other during his first stint at the PAFC. It was odd with Rucci being such a big PAFC man. Rucci would always find subtle ways to pot him in his 'roast' or whatever it was called back then and Walsh would refuse to be interviewed by Rucci. I remember Rucci talking about it on 5AA one day. Could be different these days.

Walsh is known as a genuine footy mastermind but with no interest in media, marketing etc (as Macca said). As a result, he used to say he had 0 senior coaching ambitions. Definitely is fascinating to listen to and has lots of passion when he does do interviews though. Heard he can be a prickly sort of guy but think he probably just doesn't suffer fools.
