Come in early and sit in his office.
****ing hell, I read that as shit in his office and thought "yeah that will help"

Wait I should rephrase that. There's the COO who would decide who takes the boss of my departments role so I'd need to talk to him.

Yeah I reckon have a chat to your boss to say you're interested in applying for the role, and what advice he has or any insight into the role he has. I don't think he'd mind because it's not as if it negatively affects him to have you go for it. Then chat to the COO and express an interest in applying and explain why you think you're best suited based on that chat.

Investment?

Kind of. If there's something you need help with, please message me.

Just found out my boss is quitting soon so there is a role up for grabs. How should I go about declaring my interest? Talk to the boss 1on1 or hand a resume in etc?

At a minimum would suggest talking to your boss about it and then declare your interest to the actual decision maker/s.

Wait until they announce the position is available, then apply.

No way, get in early.
Doubt it makes a difference. They'll have to advertise properly I'd say, then interview etc etc.

He can express his interest, sure, but ultimately, I would assume he'll have to go through the proper stages - like everyone else who is interested.

They can save money by not advertising it if you go in there early

Not if he's competent enough for the role and demonstrates why he is qualified. Why bother advertising?

Yeah already spoken to my boss who had a feeling that my ears would prick up at the opportunity. He said he'd give me a recommendation too.

Yeah this was the conundrum. I think speaking to the COO prior to them advertising for the position would be more beneficial plus don't they have to advertise internally first anyway?

Yep, speak to the COO, mention that you've spoken to your boss and invite him to discuss it with a boss - especially if your boss has already given you a recommendation and that might be the best way to do it.

Yeah that's what I thought was the best option too. Only thing I hate is that my COO's office isn't exactly private!

Ask if you can take him out for a coffee to chat? Might be able to organise something like that.

Definitely do speak early. It's part of what cost me the promotion I went for recently. Left it until they had advertised it and got some good candidates interviewing which made things harder

10 years since Favourite Worst Nightmare came out. One of my absolute favourite albums (which should surprise nobody).

Does anyone here use a VPN? I was thinking about getting one for my phone. Is there still VPN's that can access US/UK Netflix's? I know they cracked down on a lot of them.
Think Netflix might now go by credit card location.
