Great to see Le Pen get well and truly smashed.
Fascism needs to be defeated but the reality of the alternative is:

Terror & Riot police await Macron victory speech

2017 on the streets of Paris

It gives me no pleasure in highlighting these problems, but rather show you the reasoning as to why Le Pen made the final round and gained 11 million votes. Hopefully Macron will try to unite the nation with sensible policies so that in future people won't sway towards an extreme ideology. If he doesn't, then I fear the far right will grow stronger

Whats with showing armed French forces and saying its a bad thing, if they didn't have them you'd say they weren't protecting themselves. I've been to London and FR in the past year and feel safer in FR because in London they don't give any shits about protection. Your police aren't even armed and get taken out without guns as seen recently

I'm saying it's a bad thing for the very reason that they have to have them in the first place.

We have them too, but there are more in Paris. It's a bit rich saying they are better protected in Paris as opposed to London considering the amount of terror attacks that have already happened there. Their intelligence is no where near the strength of ours is probably the reason for that, as we foil terror plots regularly before they are hatched

It's nigh on impossible to stop some of the terrorist attacks to be fair. The terrorist that mowed down all the people in the van at the Nice festival for instance. That's the scary part of it, unless they're already detained, how the **** do you stop something like that?

I agree, you can't stop lone wolfs who are completely off the radar. Indeed, a quite worrying trend

The worst thing is that it worked. Gives other lone wolves ideas of how to successfully do that.

What we don't know is how intensely GCHQ are looking into us all. For example those who have clearly gone off the rails and have spoken off wanting to harm themselves or others may already find themselves being monitored. Those who spout hatred on the internet, even just on an innocent forum such as this may also be on some sort of radar. Such is the growing concern that these powers may already be in place for investigative authorities. The other thing London has better than probably anywhere else in the world is CCTV coverage. There's hardly a street in Central London without it.

Codswallop.

Paris is enemy number 1 for ISIS in Europe and the major attacks were Belgium's fault. You can't blame FR for anything. Macron is gonna attack Merkel to reform the Union. UK won't have much influence on that as they are powerless now and kissing EU's feet for trade deals.

anyone work in recruitment?

what's the going rate for placement fees? Think I worked out that my fee was around 8-9% of my total salary, just seen a cost come through for a new starter and I'm trying to be sneaky and work backwards to work out their salary :p

12.5 to 15% over here.

Writing a cover letter, does anyone know a better way to phrase "I have gained a good understanding of...". Sounds a bit shit. My English stinks.

"I have developed a strong understanding of...." might be a decent start, but difficult to know without the context of what you're trying to say.

Nah that's good. It's in. Thanks mate. If I don't get the job I can blame you ;)

Fine with me, I'm blamed for numerous things daily. I always use the same excuse

Cover letters are like writing an essay. Make a statement and then back it up with an example, ideally work related. If you say you work well in a team, talk about your contribution to a project and the outcome of the project.

If you say that you have leadership qualities, provide an example of a where you led a team on a project, the outcome, etc. Pretty formulaic. Everyone says the same shit so relating the BS to real examples is key. Don't be humble either lol

Don't make it too long either cos they are probably reading a shitload of em so you need to grab their attention early on.

Good luck.
