They already play 82 games though and sometimes they play teams more than other already so why not just make it 87, play each team three times and then allow the playoffs to be mixed. Or play each other twice and then have the playoffs a bit earlier. There's already far too many games in a season that it loses its meaning. At least with NFL or EPL, each game carries more weight in the context of the season.
No there isn't. Less games in a season doesn't make it more competitive. Some teams can be basically ruled out of playoff contention after 4 or 5 games in the NFL. Having 82 games just means they stay in the hunt longer.

87 games don't work as you'd play some clubs twice at home, 1 away (and vice versa). Shorter could work but then they lose revenue. It's the same issue the AFL has, there's no perfect way to fixture these sports.

Even the EPL can have plenty of pointless games. For instance, a club like Stoke or Palace - they won't be relegated but they won't catch the European spots. So that's half a season of pointless games for them.

Look at the western conference in NBA. It's so much stronger there. I don't understand how they can't just make the playoffs combined thus allowing the two best sides in the league actually play each other. Warriors/Spurs/thunder can't ever play each other in the finals? That just seems ridiculous to me.

Imagine every year it was only United or city against chelsea or Arsenal. That would kind of get boring.
There's a good reason guys like Lebron hide in the East. Pretty simple and easy trip to the finals every year.

They suck as much as Carlton does.
But they've also been very successful, also like Carlton has.

Might not be your taste but they sold a massive amount of albums, played all around the world etc etc.

They suck now. Used to be good.

Pisses me off seeing HGH Manning steal a ring on his way out despite doing sfa. Von Miller MVP by miles.

I hate Eli but i liked the fact that he had more rings the Peyton despite being very average.
Peyton was unbelievable awful. That whole game was shit except for Miller.

Brady must be kicking himself. He's given up a ring there.

Belichick should be kicking himself. Brady couldn't do anymore in that game. No surprise the OL coach was fired straight after the game

Exactly right about NFL. That's my point. Each game in NFL has more weight because like you said, 4 or 5 losses and its tough to make playoffs from there. 82 games means that they can potentially lose the first 10 or so and still make playoffs even if it is in 8th position.

Yeah I know 87 isn't the perfect fix but they just rotate it. One season you get an extra home game, next season you get an extra way game. They already play 3 games against some teams in their conference so there already is a home and away discrepancy.

This is how the fixturing is decided already:
Each team have to play:
  • 4 games against the other 4 division opponents, [4x4=16 games]
  • 4 games against 6 (out-of-division) conference opponents, [4x6=24 games]
  • 3 games against the remaining 4 conference teams, [3x4=12 games]
  • 2 games against teams in the opposing conference. [2x15=30 games]
A five year rotation determines which out-of-division conference teams are played only 3 times.

They already rotate the out of division conference teams fixtures so I don't see why it would be an issue with the 87 game format.

The EPL never has any meaningless games really. There is always the threat of relegation and the possibility of a european spot if you aren't challenging for the title. The teams in between are fighting for TV/Finishing position revenue. Each game still matters although I know what you are trying to say. That's a reality for all team sports that some games won't matter. That's not the problem I'm referring to though.

I've seen Coldplay a few times. Fantastic live act. Their first two albums are very good and I really enjoyed Viva La Vida. The rest of their albums have been consistently good. I'd much prefer to listen to them than say Imagine Dragons or Mumford and Sons and they are trying to change their style up quite a bit each album which even though it may not work, it's admirable.

Panthers copped the Richmond curse. Cam Newton should never have put on that Richmond jumper, will fail his whole career now.

He went full Trent Cotchin

Did they go against the wind the first quarter?

Coldplay are terrific live. Ive seen them live three times. Really great.

I think their newer stuff isnt as good as the old stuff. Parachutes, A Rush of Blood to the Head, X&Y and Viva La Vida were all awesome albums.

Mylo Xyloto was decent aswell but I never got into Ghost Stories. I think that album was based around Martin's split with Paltrow and it was depressing but not good depressing like Parachutes.

Have heard snippets of the new album, sounds similar to stuff from Mylo Xyloto.

How do you leave money in the machine? Doesn't it give you the card after you take the cash?

I know friends who left money at the atm, too. But I think the atm just eats the cash back after a certain period of time so it's not loss for the bank to refund you

Trying to work out how this happened Cruyff - did you withdraw more than $60? ie did you withdraw $100 and accidentally left $60 behind?

Or did you withdraw $60 and just forgot to collect your cash?

Have never heard of this happening before. So am curious to know how.
Withdrew $60, pocketed my card and walked off. Got to Myer, my friend paid for something with cash and for some reason it made me check my wallet, realised I didn't have my cash and knew I left it in the ATM.

It's never happened before. I don't remember being overly distracted, was talking to my friend at the time, but it wasn't an intense conversation or whatever.

Think he just walked away from it the machine. Good Samaritans of swanston st decided not to call out to him and pocketed it I reckon
Yep, this. Someone got a free night out.

Great for you but jeez that's leaving them open to scams.
Yeah well this girl at work used to work at Comm Bank and said people have done it before, and if there is a dispute or something, they will go back and review it in 6-8 months or something and just take the money back out if that's the case.
