I have thought about that. I also like social media, that stuff intrigues me. I'd love to have a popular YouTube channel focused on Liverpool like RedMenTV or something like that. Make money, talk about Liverpool. Would be perfect.

Doubt there are social media courses though. I guess it's just get online and do it.

So why not give it a shot?

Im not complaining about it. Im happy as larry. Life isnt about work. It's the last possible thing for me. Life is about way more things than work. I try to work as little as possible.

Working hard when you're young allows you to work less and enjoy life more when you're older.

Shit is going down in Turkey.

Not always the case. Working hard and being successful helps. Plenty of people work themselves to the bone and never make tons of money.

I do want to. No idea where to start.

Put up a youtube video, 20-30 minutes long, chatting about Liverpool, try and be funny, try and be interesting, and put them up regularly.

I now run two different podcasts, one averages somewhere around 50-60 views an episode, the other a bit over 100. That's not amazing numbers by any stretch, but consistency and persistence and gradually broadening your viewership is all you can do. If nothing else it's a bit of fun.

I did an electricians course a while back. Had just bought my house and it needed re-wiring, so thought I'd do it myself.

Ended up being too busy to do it all myself, but saved a grand or so by stripping all the old wiring.

Course cost me £3k so probably wasnt worth it.

Was fully qualified as an electrician though which was an indictment on the qualifications system over here. Because I don't have a clue, paid someone yesterday to change a light in my daughters room ha ha.

But it was fun, and I'm all for adult education.

Keen now on history courses. Never had much of an interest at school but find it all fascinating now. Will get nothing out of it work wise but still good anyway.

Also keen on languages but might just do it myself.
For learning a language id recommend duolingo.com

Free, simple, pretty fun as well.

I look at a guy like TrueGeordie. He just likes to talk about his football club. That's pretty much what I want to do. It would be fun at least, even if it wasnt successful.

Then do it?

I was referring to his first post where he said he had no idea what he wanted to do still, and was still in hospitality. Read it as a comment that he felt like he was still just treading water. Maybe I'm wrong and he absolutely loves hospitality and wants to work there his whole life.
Yeah but you shouldn't be saying things like that because everyone has their own idea on how they want to live their life. If someone is happy being a "hippy" and making hardly any money, that doesn't mean he's a failure.

I do agree with this. Everyone has their own version of happiness. Work for me is the least important thing in the world.

I didn't say he was a failure?

I'd b surprised if there isn't social media / journalism type courses out there. A company hiring in that area is unlikely to hire someone with no qualification though

You're quite a good poster in the off topic board about a range of topics so although not the dream (talking about LFC) a career in social media/commentating wouldn't be a stretch at all. Again qualifications are the key. Don't think you can include your most liked BF posts on a CV unfortunately for us all!

Just the way you replied made it seem that way was all. Just a pet peeve of mine.

Lol ok, I was only responding to the frustrations he himself raised in his post.

I have other passions outside of LFC. I love cinema, would be cool to do movie reviews and things like that. I often watch YouTube and think to myself, that's cool, but I could do it better.

Do you watch Collider Movie News? They're a good channel and do a lot of stuff through Youtube, and are still growing, so are a good outfit to look at and see the production value and effort that can be put in and what sort of subscriber numbers you can get.

I havent heard of Collider Movie News. I'll check it out.

One thing I look for is production value. If your videos look and sound slick, you will get views. Then if what you're saying or talking about it interesting or funny, you're away. I've seen videos of people talking about things im interesting but the lighting is terrible, the sound terrible. It just makes you not want to come back.

If I were ever to do it, i'd put some money into it so my first video is excellent production wise as first impressions count. You could do it the far slower way by having shitter videos but slowly building viewers and then slowly you're video's get better.

You see this with a lot of established YouTubers where you look back at their early video's and they are super shit. Obviously they have far more money now to make them better. But to compete in the market I feel the production has to be good off the bat.

It's not too expensive either, just a decent lighting and mic set up.
