Our forward line is lacking tall targets. If we are going to go long inside 50, we need more than just Riewoldt to go to. On the weekend, he was double and triple teamed many times to Port's advantage and thus his influence was nullified. Kosi has his moments but could use a foil. Fraser, it's now time to get going.

Rossco, pay attention. The G-Train is on the rails again and with September Station approaching fast, it's time to attach all carriages to him. Three talls are not too many and with our midfield winning the ball more often, we can afford to be adventurous with three. Schnieder and Milne at the feet and we look the goods.

All aboard the G-Train.:thumbsu:

Much as i like the G-Train i rkn he'll be a bit of a passenger when he comes back. Not moving in the right direction. Leave the past in the past. Fraser you've been fantastic for the club, but that's it i think.

Our best shot for goal by a mile. Play him in the goal square. Kosi part time in the ruck and defence. And Roo roaming the whole ground. Bam, thats a pretty formidable trio (at their best, of course)

Dunno if G will ever get back to near his best though.

Needs to show form at VFL level first. Bringing him for the Richmond match in round 7 was a mistake. Just did not show enough at VFL level the week before.

I do not think he was anywhere near 100% fit. Just did not move around at all.

Waste of a good draft pick guys..... As a club we have a history of these blunders

Exactly. Put him in the two right now and see what happens. I am not sure his injuried will be sufficeintly recovered though.

Can see it now, down by 5, 10 seconds left in the GF, havery, dodge, weave, to Frase on the big lead... Siren, punt from 55, Saints win!

Dare to dream I guess.

I agree with the OP. The 3 talls up front didn't work while we were chipping the ball around allowing numbers to get back. With the more direct ball movement we're seeing now, the G-Train just needs to park himself in the goal square and cause a headache for the opposition coach. Obviously he won't ever be the force he used to be but he could definitely be another handy option up front.

Get him in the scorps now so he's ready come September!

As for the wasted draft pick comment, I doubt we would have used it anyway.

You realise what a good job the combination of Reiwoldt Gehrig Milne did.
All the team had to do was bomb it into the 50 and one of them would get it and kick a goal. Now we are trying to find other ways of scoring and the team need to break their conditioning. Moving backwards will not help us move forward because Fraser Gehrig is not part of the future and he is not a player that can simply be replaced.
Some players have to follow the team strategy, while other players are the strategy. Gehrig was part of the strategy and some of the team are still playing as if he was there.
We need to move on.

Well he's still part of the team so why not utilise him? Move on next year when he's retired. Right now, if he's going to give us an advantage then let's go for it. Our forward line isn't working at the moment, forward 50's need to be converted into goals if we're going to make any impact in the finals.

Guys, we had 14.17 for the last game, with a helluva lot of those 17 being shots that any reasonable player should kick. We've won 5 of our last 6, and often with belter quarters of over 6 goals.

Lyon is right, the big problem we have is the midfield and their desire for the ball, especially in the clearances. When that gets right, the forward line is perfectly capable of carving it up.
