As a rather big punk fan, I am ashamed that the Offspring still get publicity. As Macca 19 said perfectly, they are the DEFINITION of sellout.
Green Day and Blink-182 have lost the plot as well. Blink used to be really good, they still have some good songs, but their live shows are terrible.
I went and saw them with this unknown Californian band (at the time) called Unwritten Law - UL absolutely blew them off the stage - it was embarrassing Blink were headlining them.
However there are still plenty of great punk bands that have not changed their sounds to make it big on MMM - Pennywise been my favourite example. People criticise them for 'all their songs sounding the same' but if it changes they are called sellouts! No win situation.
But there are dozens of fantastic punk bands (particularly on Burning Heart and Fat) that play great music and never get any exposure. Hell, it's taken Millencolin 5 brilliant albums to even get noticed outside the punk circle.
