Dunno about the laws over there but Morrison was out yesterday making it pretty clear that employers making vaccination mandatory was perfectly legal here.
Understanding from overseas company I work for is that here it’s only mandatory for food industry workers hence why SPC is going ahead.

Morrison said yesterday that under current laws all companies can make it mandatory.

Don't think UK companies will go down that path without government legislating.

First one that tries it without government backing is heading straight to ACAS.

I'm still curious for what legitimate grounds professional footballers could have for refusing the vaccine? Do you have any?

Perhaps if a footballer is anaphylactic I guess.

Would they not be more at risk from the virus itself? Anaphylaxis is a symptom not a disease. If you're suggesting they're allergic to the vaccine (which I don't think I've ever heard of) I'm pretty sure they would have a worse reaction to COVID itself.

Possibly, I just put it up as a possible reason. A friend of mine who is a nurse got covid last year, was relatively ok, but getting the vaccine (got the Pfizer) put her in an ICU bed.

Based on what?

You do realise that there are other things in a vaccine than just virus, right? And that its typically these other things that are what people might be allergic to?

If there are current Premier League players who are allergic to the base components of vaccines then that's pretty worrying as that would mean they're potentially unvaccinated against a lot of pretty basic viruses out there and probably shouldn't becoming into close contact with other people anyway.

What do you think people with allergies to vaccines did before COVID? Isolate forever? 😂

What are you on about? I'm saying if there are people that can't get vaccinated they shouldn't be putting themselves at risk in general public where people who have been vaccinated can still pass the virus on. The PL shouldn't allow them to play for their own good.

"if you can't get vaccinated then you shouldn't be in the general public" 😂 So what should they do then?

How about those that can't get vaccinated against the flu? Or meningococcal? Or any other communicable disease that has a vaccine?

Before you start wringing your hands in desperation, are there actually any players who have deadly allergies to vaccinations? At this stage it just seems like a lot of players being ignorant/selfish. Is there any evidence that's not the case?

Yep, allerfgc reactions can happy with anything but are very, very rare with vaccines. Any player that does suffer from such a condition will have a medical exemption but realistically it wont be more than a handful of players that have such an issue in the entire premier league player pool.

The rest have no excuse for failing to vaccinate.

If any. Feels like a very rare excuse is being used to dictate how the league should deal with vaccinations when I would be staggered if it actually has an impact on the player pool. If that's the only justification people can come up with for why players may not want to be vaccinated I'd suggest they get over it and if they aren't in a position to be vaccinated, coming into contact with people from all sorts of cultures on a daily/weekly basis probably isn't the best profession for them anyway.

Idgaf about whether it affects PL players or not - I don't know how many have been vaccinated and how many haven't. Its the combination of your obvious lack of knowledge/understand with your forthrightness that I have a problem with given you apparently believe that there are no reasons to not get vaccinated and that anyone that isn't vaccinated shouldn't go out in public.

A quick google search reveals that the CDC says that anaphylaxis is a reason not to get either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines (which is what under 40s get in the UK). The Janssen (also known as the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) isn't available there (not to mention the fact that it is 2/3s as effective)

I know its not your style, but maybe check your facts before you go in all guns blazing. Its attitudes like what you've displayed here that leads some people to say stupid shit like "science is a religion"

Ok see you then, considering this conversation is specifically about PL players, and I have never said they shouldn't go out in public, wtaf? I said they shouldn't be playing a sport where they come into close contact with people to the extent they do.

Move on.

Based on the vaccine being literally a component of the virus..

That's false. messenger RNA vaccines such as the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine don't contain virus components. They work by instructing our cells to produce virus like molecules, which in turn triggers an immune response to those molecules.
