They were specified because they had precedents. This was unprecedented. That doesn't make applying reasonable and fair penalties in this case impossible and not worth trying. End of the day the clubs got off lightly because money talks and that's the start and end of it.
They were specified because if you want to give a significant punishment to clubs you have to make sure your own rules are very clear on what an offence is and what the punishment for that offence is. Otherwise its very likely any punishment you give will be overturned in the courts.

You can't just pluck a 40 point penalty from up your arse and apply it just because it seems like the right thing to do.

Or it could be that you’re both right.

Money talks; and their was no specified punishment set out for something never done before.
No doubt there was no precedent but it's laughable that they weren't prepared for the possibility. That's deserving of criticism in and of itself.

By all accounts a commitment to the pyramid system it will be part of a contract signed by owners so I think they will be in a better position to punish clubs going forward.

Story was about some silly Man City post but could be an interesting Four Corners piece coming up

Great article which is an edited extract from new book on Tuchel. Some excellent observations on his training techniques from his time at Mainz, the way he used to alter the pitch for training to suit upcoming opponent. Making training more complex than matches, sports theory on using more than simple repetition to learn movement and techniques.

I wonder what will happen if you don't show your proof of vaccination. As far as I know there is no requirement to.be vaccinated to attend a game so I'm not sure what the point of this is.

Seems more intimidation than anything else.

But in better news, there's talk that soon you might be able to have a beer while watching a game. At the moment you see people throwing them down as quick as possible before the game and half time. Surely it will be better to have a civilised pint or two while the game is on.

Reminds me of going to the A league a few years back. Sweltering hot day, grabbed a beer and some food and sat down to watch the match. Was fantastic and got me thinking why you can't do it in the UK.

I think it makes a lot of sense although did see it pointed out could be bad when there's goals and beer gets thrown in the air and drenches kids or others around. Do non-alcoholic drinks get thrown around during goals?

Nice, can't wait to read that

It's just football tbf. Other sports you already can so no reason why we shouldn't be allowed to drink during the football. You can buy double pints at rugby games and take them back to your seats. At Lords you can bring in a bottle of red or a 4 pack and drink them wherever you like. It's good stuff.

I remember people buying a coffee and then pouring as much beer as they could into the cups at HT and before the game.
