The mighty Liverpool, sounding like the Arsene Wenger that everyone mocked.

Enjoy that 4th place trophy.

That'll do just fine this season while rebuilding. Title challenge can come in 24/25. Not sure what you expect with a midfield consisting of Thiago and a bunch of youngsters.

Will Mac Allister and Szoboszlai be in your midfield?

Wenger was ahead of the curve with this. Unfortunately, his word choice (likening it to a trophy) really diluted his point and understandably led to a lot of banter/piss taking from other fans. He shouldn’t have referenced it as such, especially during such a barren time at Arsenal in those years.

However fast forward a decade, and we see how many other clubs, executives, fans, players etc talk about the importance of the champions league. In terms of revenue, prestige, attracting more players and so on.

Wenger was right in that respect, sustained participation in the champions league has its unique significance.

It both does and it doesn't.

From 16/17, Arsenal missed 6 seasons of Champions League in a row.

Didn't stop you from pushing City for 80% of the season last campaign.

For clubs like mine, it's unique. For City/Liverpool/United/Chelsea/Arsenal etc - they can go without for several seasons and still find their way back there. The finances are great enough in those clubs to alleviate any damage from not making the champions league coin.

You'd hope that Klopp is saying one thing in public, another in the dressing room.

Maybe it's a message to the board that they need to spend. But it's a shocker of a message to put out there imo.

I remember in 11/12, Mancini was saying that United had the title won for the last two months of the season (even when we got to 1st spot with a few left).

But he was saying the opposite in the dressing room.

Isn't JJ Watt a big Burnley fan? Can't remember if he has a minority stake or something.

Yeah, he and his wife bought a minority stake in the club a few months ago.

How is goal line technology used in penalty shoot outs? In the game last night the USA women's goalie parried the ball then it went behind her before she grabbed it. The "linesman", as the commentator described the female assistant, flagged no goal. It took about half a minute for the ref to talk to VAR and award the goal. This graphic was released. Is it a millimetre over the line or a millimetre on it? If the ball was over the line why didn't the ref's watch go off?

That is the goal line tech.

How do you know it didn't? It all seemed to happen pretty fast and then she told the Swedes they'd won. Didn't look like she spoke to VAR.

The ref's wrist device is usually instantaneous and the goal is awarded. This decision took about 20 seconds. The ref was clearly getting instruction in her ear about the decision.

No idea then mate, I've seen plenty of goal line decisions take 10-15 seconds as the ref checks their watch and then confirms it.

Perhaps you could have said that in the first place. We are no nearer establishing how VAR was involved with this WC penalty shootout decider.

What I said in the first place was that the image you posted was the Hawkeye tech, which it was.
