I am no experts on the global and national finances but i firmly believe that the world wide covid crisis pandemic, especially for a country like ours that crippled us for over 2 and a half years, realistically cost us any (financially) realistic chance of hosting the (men's) world cup in the the next 20 years.

Saudi Arabia (aside from their wealth) were fortunate in that they definitely didn't have as much international traffic as ours and likely spared as significant covid outbreak as us.

Saudi Arabia don't have to worry so much about spending government money on public infrastructure like our government have to.

It it's not economically viable in Australia it absolutely isn't economically viable in Saudi Arabia.

We have better everything than Saudi Arabia. The only thing they can offer is money. Australia could easily afford to build 10 new stadiums if it really wanted to.

The only difference is Saudis are run by an absolute monarchy where they can do whatever they like with public money.

The real loser out of this will be the every day Saudi who will get less public services. The money's got to come from somewhere.
