It’s amazing there even is an Alonso factor. For all anyone knows this season is a flash in the pan from him and Liverpool will come to regret signing an inexperienced manager . His league record last season from Leverkusen with Alonso in charge wasn’t anything to write home about. 7 wins in their final 17 league fixtures and 3 points from their final 5 league matches.

He took over when they were second last and looking nowhere near like qualifying for any of the European spots though. Considering how quickly he had them playing his style and with no pre season I'd say that was a really good effort.

I see that he had two 5 game winning streaks but then fell away late into the season. But yeah, as you said from where Leverkusen where when he took over, it was a good effort.
