Hodgson: "Eric Dier did his job [as a sitting midfielder] against France, that's for sure, and does it for Tottenham," explains Hodgson. "I've been very impressed so have called him up with Drinkwater, who does a similar job for Leicester City."

"[But] they're still in the shadow of Jack Wilshere, who did so well for us before his injury. If all three were available for the Euros, that'd be a nice headache because there might not be space for all three."

How is this buffoon still in a job.
NSFB posted that last night.

50 years ago today we played one of our greatest matches (read: famous) in an FA cup match with Chelsea, drew 2-2 with a side chasing the division 1 title, we were division 3 I believe.

Wilshere has always performed well for England.
Doesn't really give him a blank cheque into the side though with dier and drinkwater in such good form.

100% this. Jod's view reeks of a Eurosnob who turned on a Jets-Mariners game five years ago, got bored, turned off and has never given the league a go again. Watch a Melbourne derby jod23 and tell me that it's a boring league. I support Adelaide FFS, you don't have to support the Glory, even though they won a game 6-3 recently.. they aren't too shabby themselves.
Ill say it again. You cant manufacture something that isnt there. Like you cant make someone love you. They either do or they dont. I either love the A-League and Perth Glory and have connection to it, or I dont. You cant force it. I have no interest in the Glory or the A-League.

It's not Eurosnob. It's just how it is.

Just on Adam Johnson and the 6 years. Whilst I personally think it's great and he should rot in jail, it's hugely excessive.

First let me say it's only excessive compared to similar crimes. I think 6 years is great, lock him away for more if you could.

But if him, im asking my lawyers as to why other people are only getting one year or two years and one woman no jail time at all for worse crimes with underage teenagers.

Women seem to getting far lighter sentences. I read two stories on women, both teachers grooming students which is also worse as they are breaching the position of trust that teachers have with students. Johnson doesnt have that as he obviously isnt a teacher.

Anyways, one story I read a 36 year old female teacher was caught on camera with a 15 year old student by her suspicious husband. She got 12 months in jail and expects to serve 6 months.

The second story I read was about another woman teacher having sex with an underage boy, 15, over 50 times in a three month period. She told the kid she was pregnant and had a two year old child from a previous relationship and was getting her child to call the 15 year old schoolboy, Dad.

She pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual activity with a child - and a further charge of sexual activity with a child by a person in a position of trust. She got just 250 hours of unpaid community work - and was ordered to pay a £100 victim surcharge.

She must also obey a restraining order prohibiting her from contacting or seeing the victim.

Now again, this is not me saying Johnson's sentence is too long. But it's way more harsh than other people seem to be getting for far worse crimes. Id be all over this shit if I was Johnson's lawyers.

What the **** is with the legal system in the UK, which is where all these three stories originate. How can women be getting such smaller sentences? They should be behind bars for as long, if not longer.

That's pretty ****ed.

That's pretty stuffed.
Think I read somewhere that there are people on manslaughter who have smaller sentences than him

Which is even worse... not for AJ and his sentence, he can rot. Just for the stuffed up legal system.
Yeah I don't think he should have got less. But in comparison to other cases you could see why he'd think he has been harshly dealt with

Yeah it's not that he should have got less, it's that those women should have got far more.

Bizarre when cases are so similar and yet one person get community service and no jail time, one person gets 12 months and another gets 6 years? :drunk::drunk: Makes zero sense.

Why does it have to be Glory? I watch the PL, CL, etc. without caring about any of the clubs in it the way I care about Hull, but still get a lot of enjoyment out of watching good football matches.

Get yourself along to some games and you may very well find yourself with a strong connection to it. Plus you'll be able to talk LFC with fellow fans over beers and have a good time in general. Really don't understand why you wouldn't at least give it a go if you love football in general.

I think it's a shame there's so many football fans in Australia who won't follow the game because it isn't the EPL. I belive down the track that we could eventually see a championship quality competition in Australia if everyone got behind it.

One last question : what would you do if Gerrard signed for Glory next season?

But I dont want to go to games. It's forcing me to do something I dont want to do. I have little to no interest in it. It's like asking me to get along to some state Netball games. I just dont care and have no interest so why would I go and try and force the issue. As ive said, if the passion just isnt there, you cant force it.

Whether Australia gets behind football is irrelevant as it's never going to be a very good league. All the best players play in Europe. It's as simple as that.

If Gerrard suddenly signed for Perth Glory, id probably go to every game. But that would be to see Steven Gerrard play because im a massive Liverpool fan. It wouldnt have anything to do with the Glory or the A-League.

Having said that though, Fowler played for the Glory and I bloody love God and I never went to any Perth Glory games when he was with the Glory. So maybe I wouldnt even bother if Gerrard signed.

If I was going to have a team, it would obviously be the Glory. I was born and bred in Perth.

I was born and bred in Sydney and support Adelaide and hull. You support Liverpool. Clearly teams you support don't have to be from the city you come from.

Fair enough. I had the same thoughts before I got roped into attending A League football regularly. Now love it and I find it compliments my supporting of LFC quite well.

All I'm saying is give it a go. What do you have to lose?

I'm with you. There's no connection there. I don't even live in a city with a team either.

That's why we have judges. It is their job to assess cases on their merits. When governments come in with blanket rules you get all sorts of problems. Of course there are problems already with the fact the judiciary isn't democratic and judges get reputations for being lenient on one thing and not another which means your sentencing may depend a bit on the roll of the dice (which is far from ideal), but then you can appeal. The biggest problem is the expense, but on the other hand that does discourage wasting the court's time.

None of that applies here as Johnson has money. He can appeal. However, he will no doubt struggle mostly because they know he looked up the laws before going on to break them. That suggests no respect for the law, and that he was fully planning to do something wrong. Then there's the issue of whether he cooperated or tried to cover up the crime.

The legal system unsurprisingly is harsh on people who knowingly break the law. He was also carrying on his regular life of having a growing family and performing at a high level in his job, with no sign of mental issues that he could potentially claim as a distorting factor to his regular moral compass. And of course he would be considered to be in a 'position of trust' like the teacher in your unlinked-to stories due to the fact he represented a trusted institution of which the victim was a huge fan. The fact the case is high-profile also brings in a 'setting an example' element.

I have no desire to dig around the criminal cases you mentioned, by the nature of the crime this stuff is pretty unpleasant and it does get weird with teenagers because hormone-riddled students will often have a teacher they think is hot (our school definitely had a few hot teachers), but if you want to provide links or do the research yourself, I'm sure you could pretty quickly find out the reasons for leniency in the other cases.
