Still not sure how irretrievable the situation is for Chelsea. 8 behind United and Arsenal, 10 behind us. Pretty decent run of fixtures coming up iirc.

I think they could catch up on any of the main pre season contenders, on top of their game they can go on a sustained run of wins. But to catch up on three is hard.

I wonder what their aims are for the rest of the season. Top 4 and perform in the cups?

Going to be very interesting. Think I saw the stat that no team with 8 points from 8 games has ever made top 4. All depends on whether they can get it together now.

From here if we can finish top 3 and get a cup it'll have been a decent end to the season. Mou did say the other week winning the league is now out of the question but he thinks we'll be in the top 4 by Christmas.

I can see us being quite active in January.

Think you never choose a player over a manager. Something that Chelsea and us have done, and it just means the next bloke in charge doesnt really have any control over things. Never have the tail wag the dog.

That's situation is what got Wolfsburg De Bruyne.

Never going to be nice to let a player go, but look at your own club. Players knew who the boss was and he got more out of them because of it. They knew that no matter how good a player they were if they cross the boss they were out.

Moyes came in and they started taking liberties, doing things they would never have done under Ferguson. They knew the balance of power changed and they performed worse as a result (not saying Moyes being shit didn't contribute to that).

You might lose out on a player, but I think you're a stronger club in the long run. And you have to question the commitment of a player that says him or me IMO. What's to stop him doing it next year when he gets the hump again?

what if the manager is the problem?

The manager has to justify his position. But he gets sacked because he's not good enough, not because someone says it's him or me.

With us and Mancini a few years back I would have got rid of few of the agitators as well as the manager (presuming all the falling out stories were true). What we saw two years later is a few of them down tools and start looking at the manager again to excuse their own piss poor performances.

Totally understand your point and in 90% of cases I'd agree wholeheartedly. However, with Mou's propensity to move clubs quite regularly, regardless of contract length, and Chelsea's form and league position, as well as Hazard not being the only player unhappy with things, i don't think it is so cut and dried.

Additionally, in this case I believe Roman would side with the star player.

It's certainly a type of decision thats much easier to make from behind the keyboard than in real life where there are real consequences.

I'd probably just lock them both in a room and bang their heads together until they both get over their own self importance. That might not be so effective in real life either. ;)

the way i see it is that regularly, mourinho's teams can end up like lyon's fremantle. the style they play is so intensive mentally, not just physically, and burns some players out due to his lack of rotation. not all, but some. he can be quite a harsh man from the outside looking in, demands high standards like all good managers, but maybe there's only so long that can go on for with a group of players?

that is whether the rumour mill is correct, and guys like hazard and matic have all aired their concerns and whatnot.

As much as I'm indifferent towards him and didn't like the way he treated Eva, I think you need to let go of your Mou obsession...

The biggest downfall of being a Mod is not being able to block the posters who aren't worthy of attention.

It's the old adage, you cant win the title by October, but you can certainly lose it. Chelsea have lost the title and it's not even November. That's pretty nuts. They should still recover and finish top four though.
