Agree with Cruyff about the original Ronaldo. Would have been up there with Messi if he didn't suffer crippling injuries.

I don't think he would, I think he'd just end up partying like Ronaldinho grow his beer gut and waste it away after a good patch

Chelsea have form. They did exactly the same thing with Sturridge, where they let a player go who had looked very good on loan.

More a coincidence than form, completely different circumstances.

Plus the fact 2 of our best 11 are former loanees (under a different manager you would think Lukaku, KDB and Ake would all have been starters for us right now).

To be fair, Lukaku wasnt ready for Chelsea and didnt want to go out on loan year after year. Even now he still gets criticised a lot by Everton supporters (copped a heap after the league cup semi) and is far from the finished product.

Got a hell of a sdoring record though, and great potential.

I wish our strikers were as "raw" as him.

A lot of 10s lack pace. It is not critical in their position so I am not sure why you are using that as a negative.
But he seems slow. You can still be fast or quick without being Sterling or Aubemeyang but Payet genuinely just looks Lucas Leiva slow. It's a negative. Everything else is great though, cracking player.

I don't think lukaku gets most his goals because of speed. He is an explosive player but unless he gets some bad injuries and ends up out of shape there really isn't reason why he'd lose that sheer power. He was a mountain of a "man" at 19 and he should still be that at 30. His natural ability is quite underrated I still think. Probably doesn't look aesthetic as some but his ball control is great too.

I for one hope he sticks around in England for most his career he could finish his career as one of the great imo
Off to Bayern in the summer if reports are to be believed. I dont think he will be in England much longer.

If Everton fans criticise Lukaku a lot I haven't seen it. He has been brilliant for them. I wish Hull had a player like Lukaku that I could criticise.

iniesta, silva, mata at his peak weren't exactly quick.

it's not the playmakers job to be quick.

Like I said, you don't need to be quick if you're a 10. You need vision, technique and the ability to hit a pass. Ozil is another example along with those that Kizz mentioned.

Zidane wasn't exactly a speed demon either.

Not disagreeing and again I rate Payet. But as 10's go, when ive seen him play he is super slow. Blokes like Coutinho, Silva, Ozil can still be a bit nippy and quick. Payet just seems slow. Still a quality player and Id have him at Liverpool for sure of course.

I would have thought Silva and Ozil would be a similar pace and Coutinho isnt really a number 10.

In that position speed on mind is more important than leg speed anyway.
No doubt im just saying when Ive watched Payet ive just noticed he is a bit epically slow. Was clean through against United and just got eaten up.

lacking speed means usually you work your arse off at other things in your game.
look at sterling relyse solely on speed which is why he will struggle to be a top player
