im pretty sure ive seen more of sterls than you.
im just disappointed he doesnt know how good he can be if he worked harder technically. but i guess city paying him what they are is hurting his desire.

If I had to pick areas Sterling needs to improve on next season it would be finishing (obviously), strength on the ball (you're not wearing a Liverpool shirt now, you're not going to get that soft free) and using his speed to get behind the defence more.

I'm hoping it's instruction more than anything (Navas also doesnt use his speed enough), and Pep will encourage him to take on players more.

im 99% certain it's instruction. navas last night blatantly refused to use his pace, while other times he does. pelle sets his wingers basically to track back and help defending his fullbacks, who have to track back to cover a centre back who inevitably runs out wide like a headless goose.

he's a smart footballer who is 21 and has things to work on. i'd be genuinely concerned if he'd peaked at 21.

Sterling was very good at exploiting space in season 13/14 playing alongside SAS. Not sure what's happened this season.

Unfortunately for City fans it looks like Sterling is never going to be a potent finisher. His best work is out wide on the wings using his pace, forget about using him as a forward. Will be interesting to see how he fits in with Pep.

He's only 21. Plenty of time for him to develop that side of his game.

25 a season should be the minimum we should expect from him in a couple of years. Which, for a wide forward would be very useful.

That is a bit much from him I think. I'd say you should expect 15-20 with an increase in the amount of assists. He may have 1 or 2 seasons where he just explodes but I agree with World Cup, I don't think he will ever become a real potent finisher.

11 goals, 10 assists already this season. In his first season, in a team that hasnt fired on all cylinders for 5 months. I'd expect a significant improvement on that over the next couple of years. He's only 21, plenty of improvement left in him.

does age matter? one of the highest earning players in the epl amd highest transfer fee he has underperformed.
just questioning whether the mpney has gotten to his head. im willing to give pep a chance to sort him out.

his numbers at his age stack up well against other young footballers of the past.

i'd rather have him instead of coming up against him. he only needs a manager who isnt utterly clueless. going from lets play you as a wingback rodgers to i have no idea what to do with you pellegrini would be tough.

pep will love him. if he gains some strength in his hips and the ability to cut in and finish he'll be some sort of player. seen a lot of stuff lately that training at the club has not been up to scratch for a long time so it's a difficult environment to be in, especially for a new, young footballer.

Sterling scores a lot of goals for someone so young. I think he will be fine moving forward. Should be a 20 goal a season player for years and years. Should go extremely well under Pep you would think.

It hasn't even been a season.

How's 32m Benteke going?

He played at wingback 3 times in 126 appearances under Rodgers. It was a headline aimed at stirring the pot and everyone has assumed that he spent half his Liverpool career there, it's bizarre. In 2013/14 he spent the season at the tip of the diamond behind Suarez & Sturridge, and in his last season with us he was used predominantly as a #10, false 9 or wide left, developing versatility that I'm sure City will benefit from in years to come.

He'll be a brilliant player for City. 25 goals a season is probably overstating it but he's a fantastic footballer already, and while finishing doesn't come naturally to him I'm sure he'll improve in that area over the next few years.

I'm glad someone said it. This wingback thing is a load of shit. He played there a few times because the team needed him to fulfil a role, he and everyone else needs to get over it.

Yeah the wingback thing is stupid. He played there maybe three times and it was to do a job for the team. Stop whinging and put in a shift for the team. He's a douche. Cracking footballer and will be great for City but I cant stand him.

Sterling was back in the day. Grow up bro, do a job for the team. He's a spoil brat. All footballers are nowadays with the money they make so young.

He mentioned it in an interview last July. Some certainly need it get over it.

Your own Stevie Starfish had his own issues playing in a non favoured position so I don't think it's a modern phenomenon.
