I dont know if I gave the Wildcats a chance. I just loved basketball from an early age. My parents took me to games. It was forced upon me and I took a liking to it. So now after so many years, I do have an emotional investement in the Wildcats. It's not huge, and I dont watch every game but I want them to do well and keep an eye on them and watch when I can.

The quality of the NBL does shit me though, it's a large downgrade from the NBA and it makes it harder to watch and I dont really watch other NBL games, just Wildcats games.

Im also not rubbishing the A-League. Im just telling some truths. On a scale of great fooballers to poor ones. The A-League is generally filled with average players as all the above average players play in better leagues. That's not me rubbishing the league, that's just true.

But anyways. Not sure why everyone is trying to get on my back about not liking the A-League. You guys cant force me to like something haha.
Clearly your parents were able to force something on you. ;)

The disconnect in your brain when you say you aren't rubbishing the league but the league is crap is amazing. It completely disregards the young players who will likely move to bigger clubs in the near future, and the marquee players who are paid large amounts to play here.

Keep in mind Jod also said he happily watches the Championship - which I don't believe for a second - and yet doesn't like watching inferior leauges.

looks like fans are making it pretty clear they're not going to put up with extortion.

Looks like a typical home game at the emptihad to me.........

this season ive enjoyed the a league morethan the epl.
maybe its because the a league gets the best outof its limited resources while epl clubs just wasteful.
and the inferior debate is not a good oneas epl is not a top league atm and yet we all follow it

When you don't watch the league but make comments like this, yes you absolutely are rubbishing it. Obviously there is a big difference in quality on paper between HAL players and those in the premium European leagues but not as good in no way means poor, the A League has heaps of exciting players and youngsters just starting out.

You made comments a page or so back about not wanting to watch games because you don't want to see negative hoof ball tactics and what was that based on?

Australian clubs are much more progressive minded than their English counterparts when it comes to embracing modern football philosophies IMO. I mean City's manager was mentored by Cruyff and has heaps of experience in the Ajax system, Adelaide's last two manager's have come from La Masia and Brisbane and Victory's football philosophies are heavily shaped by Ange Postecoglou's obsession with a positive possession based system. Stylistically these teams are very easy on the eye when at full flight but you wouldn't know that because you don't watch games, yet you still felt the need to denigrate the standard based on absolutely no evidence. Surely you can see how that is rubbishing the league?

It's not a personal agenda, or are you again ignoring the multitude of people taking offence/annoyance with what you're saying? It really is sad how often you descend to personal insults when you box yourself into a corner. Sometimes it is ok to just admit you don't know what you're talking about.
Nobody is taking offence to anything. We are just discussing a topic. Dont take everything so seriously mate.

Ugh.

But the league is rubbish. Im sorry. That's why Messi doesnt play here. It's also why Herrera doesnt and Joe Hart and Mario Gotze and Julian Draxler and on and on and on.

It's nice that the A-League is trying to be relevant but it just never will be. It's the same with the MLS.

Maybe you've missed the numerous people getting pretty annoyed at your flippant remarks.

So the EPL is rubbish because Messi doesn't play in it? :drunk: What a ridiculous and absurd remark.

Just stop Jod. Just. Stop.

Most of them don't play in the EPL either.

That rubbish too?

Then you might as well say every league in the world apart from EPL / Bundesliga / La Liga is irrelevant.

The A League is not rubbish either. 10k + crowds on average wouldn't turn up to watch "rubbish". While the players in the A League are not as good as players in the big 3 leagues they are still relatively good footballers.

It seems you won't watch the A League because it isn't the EPL which is a shame. And bizarre because you were and still are happy to watch a sub par NBL competition.

And is happy to watch the Championship apparently, the definition of 'subpar' as it isn't its countries top league, and surprisingly Messi isn't running around in it.

Those guys don't play for Liverpool, but you watch them. Etc Etc. This is just going to go on and on.

You can't say you think something is rubbish and uses bad tactics and has average players when you don't watch it. Just as you spoke about how crazy it was for some people to get different jail sentences to other people but you can't be bothered using a search engine to find out if it was even true or if there were circumstances that might explain the difference.

I know this is the Internet, and being informed is totally lame/leftist/a conspiracy, but you post a lot and it would be great if you could spend some of that posting time actually finding out info on the things you want to talk about.

Think you just summed up what we're all thinking. Let's not give this any more oxygen because trolls just thrive on it.

I do find the euro snob attitude towards A League football incredibly annoying.

For me you either love the sport or you don't. I can't imagine anyone that loves football not wanting to watch A League football.

While I'm not big on the A-League, and while it may not be of a high standard, everything is relative.

For where it was when it started, it's come a very long way. Attracted some quality players and it will only get bigger and better.

Not my cup of tea, and I don't go out of my way to watch it, but I have seen some good games from time to time. To suggest it's rubbish is insulting to the league, and fans.

And the contradictory levels from Jod are astounding.

I'd get it if he just didnt like watching sub-standard football, but then he said he watches the Championship and having been to quite a few Championship games I can tell you that a large portion of the games are painful to watch in comparison to the A-League

Depends on who you watch I suppose. Sydney FC play dour football, and so do some Championship sides. Derby play open attacking football, and so do Melbourne City. I really don't get how you (in the general sense, not you specifically) can tar an entire league with a certain game style.

This. I mean can you actually imagine with their history, their playing careers with Ajax and Barcelona respectively and coming through their youth systems, their international experience with the Netherlands and Spain respectively and their influence and relationship with Cruyff that John van't Schip and Guillermo Amor would play hoof ball football? I guess because they manage in Australia it must mean that they're bad technical and tactical coaches and just pass it sideways a bit before lumping it to the big centre forward.

Do any of the clubs even have big centre forwards?

does any one here watch much of the championship?
im saying the top a league teams would be mid table in the championship from what little ive seen
