About 5-6 years ago FOX commisioned the Always Sunny guys to write a sci-fi comedy show, I wonder if this is the evolution of that project.

This show isn't meant to be just a comedy spoof of Star Trek by the sounds of it, so I'm happy to give it a go when it comes out.

It might take a little while to find its feet, but I'm hoping it can have a similar tone to Stargate. A good mix of humour, action and character development.

Yes, they're even calling it a dramedy, so I think the intention is to make some proper sci fi. I agree some of the jokes in the trailer are corny, but the quality of the special effects used look very good for a TV show. But we all know how bad the Seth McFarlane movies were (the ones he actually appeared in), so I hope he can improve on those.

To be fair, any fascist paramilitary organisation in space exploring is going to heavily overlap with Star Trek - the more they try and be high and mighty the worse it would be.
