each and every week i see clubs from 1st to 16th playing new kids consistently.. the eagles have done it this year and look @ the results.. the pies are doing it with great results.. these teams are in top 4 and still givng kids a go.. we are 13th and refuse to do it, but will play ABSOLUTE DUD USELESS TERRIBLE DISGRACEFULL HOPELESS PLAYERS LIKE SHANE BIRSS, JAMES GWILT, JASON BLAKE, ANDREW MCQUALTER AND AARON FIORA EACH AND EVERY WEEK... why?? "because we have injuries".. what a load of crap! sittin in the reserves are

Justin Sweeney
Brad Howard
untill recently David Armitage (who shoudl have been in since rd 1)
Clinton Jones took a few weeks to hold a spot

they are some,, there are more..... and after watching shane birss and co today, I cant effin understand what on earth makes someone select them?

Birss: Oh god, useless.. no need to explain. if uve seen him ull agree.. write it off as a poor trade choice

J Gwilt: played one good game and "held" big F.F's to 5+ goals.. terrible decision maker.. smokey that has blown up

J Blake: some may not agree with me.. but all he can do is run.. falls over a lot.. TERRIBLE decision making skills, clangers, drops marks.. his best is below par and his worst is ..is.. so so so so bad

A McQualter: rated but hasnt performed over years.. delist.. gives nothing, shows nothign

A Fiora: while some may say hes been in our best this season, our best is pretty crappy.. does a few goods things every so often (eg his mark today) but thats it.. misses too many goals and doesnt use his supposdly quality left boot.. heath black was so much better, but wanted to go home..

in a time when we have so mant injureis, why not get as many games as possible into the youth.. sweeny does good in the VFL, and can take over milne when he goes... b howard is meant to be fast, well FFS we damn slow, get him in..armo was a top 10 in a good draft, keep playin him.. and CJ is ready made, keep him going..

these players shoudl never play again unless were down to under 22 fit players, and even if then, find someome else

birss, blake, mcqualter, fiora, gwilt, rix too (he has had plenty of time to be decent,, he just goes the bare minimum, not good enough)

Fiora, Rix, maybe even Gwilt would be in our top 30. Gwilt will improve.

Agree with you regards Birss... He runs like he's got a stick up his date.

Blake I feel sorry for. He's got such heart and such endeavour. I reckon he'd be a great clubman and for a bloke his size he's got pretty good run. I see a bit of myself in Blake... Tries hard but not really good enough for AFL Footy.

McQualter has been given his chances and can't seem to take them.

I'd like to see the young kids in too. Maybe GT was about to make the right call on Milney. He's as inconsistent as he ever was but now can't even seem to do the goalsneak stuff that made him valuable. Might be time to try Sweeney / Jones at the feet of the G-Train.

I also think Lyon doesn't use the G-Train well. Might e a case of Gerhig not fitting the mould of the modern player. He's asked to chase back too far too often, is rarely spotted up on the lead, and is essentially a decoy for Nick, Kosi, et al. Last night he was leading half-heartedly.

Having said all that it's not yet panic stations. Injuries can't be dismissed as a major factor... and we've just lost another backman (L Fisher) to a Hamstring. Give Lyon some time and I'm sure things will start to improve. Hopefully starting next week!

J Blake: some may not agree with me.. but all he can do is run.. falls over a lot.. TERRIBLE decision making skills, clangers, drops marks.. his best is below par and his worst is ..is.. so so so so bad

Obviously I don't know anywhere near as much about your team as you do, but last night I thought Jason Blake was pretty good. He was tough to match up, but really should have kicked those two set-shot goals in the third quarter.

When you have a few more players back, I think he can still be a valuable part of your team.

Injuries are definately a concern .. An excuse ? .. possibly ?

I think the real issue is the game plan that Lyon is putting together at the moment.

Last year we went one on one all over the ground. Im not a GT supporter by the way, Im glad we got rid of him ..) But we did play to our strenghts.

This season, we have tried to emulate other teams where we get numbers back, and then push forward through the midfield.

The problem being our midfield is not getting back fast enough to help out defensively. Apart from Hayes and Harv's, our midfield this season has been a disgrace.

I think its time that Lyon played to OUR strengths. Our rebounding from defensive when we have the ball has been excellent . Gram, S Fisher and Goddard (when fit) carried the ball forward with purpose and vigor.

The problem being at the moment that the defense needs help from the midfield. As shown last night, when the oppositions midfield surges forward, our midfielders are too SLOW to catch them. Leaving us extremley vunerable and under-manned.

Our midfield needs to step up and be counted.

They then need to provide better delivery to our forwards.

Players that are facing the chop

McQualter,
Blake,
Fiora????,
Birss
Milne,

Ok - maybe not all of them can go, but we should of traded Milne. We might of gotten an extra late pick. He is worth nothing now. Kicks a goal or two each match, but just doesn't do enough around the ground or when the going gets tough.

The problem with ST Kilda is that they can't kick goals. In the past 3 weeks they haven't kicked over 10 goals. 3 things can be done.
1- Practise kicking
2- Get a new forward coach because this one can't do the job.
or 3 recruit forwards who can kick.

probably have to watch more of him to see what i mean.. he can run all damn day, but thats it...the thing is he is hard to match up on cos os his size and ability to run all day, but teams dont need to because if u leave him alone, he wont damage you.. has never played a single game B.O.G and in 100 games, u need to have a few in that..

we need to grow some balls, drop the duds who we keep trying week after week
