Its just verging on being TOO technical. And we can all see what happens to motorsport when it does. F1. THe most technical form of racing in the world which is also the most boring. And they realized it which is why they are trying to go backwards a little to go forward.

And to me, the Supercars are going the same way. Lap after lap of single file racing. With the gaps getting bigger and bigger between each car every lap.

And the VERY first thing I'D do is remove that big and UGLY looking thing on the back of the car. The wing. Remove some down force and you get more oppotunity's to stay close and attempt a pass on the car in front. It puts more on the driver too. You need better throttle control. And there is NOTHING better than seeing a big V8 power sliding around a corner.

Replace the wing with a small NASCAR style spoiler. And thats it. Maybe take away a bit of down force at the front end to balance the car.

Surely it would be a winner?

"If it aint broke, dont fix it."

The V8 Supercar Championship seems pretty good to me. Just look at how exciting this season was.

Exactly, the V8's are going great. Leave them as they are, this year proved what a Championship we have. Until such time that it starts going downhill I would not make any drastic changes.

Only because Fords won for a change.

The racing on the track is pathetic. The drivers know it. The officials know it. And a lot of fans know it.

Only a matter of time before they DO take off the ungly wings and make other changes. Racing will be better by a LONG way.

I can hardly see how you can call yourself a huge motorsport fan if you think the V8s are boring...seriously you only need to look at how close the championship was.

As for taking the "ugly" rear wings off....seriously, that is a bloody stupid idea. Even if the downforce was lessened the distances between cars would be far greater because the "big spenders" would have more money to put into suspension set-ups etc still making them stay out the front. It would be a joke removing the downforce. The handling of them would be ****...the braking distances a lot greater...and the speed would be far slower...making for boring, slow racing. One of the great things about the V8s is how great they are as a high speed event considering the size and weight of the cars. Reducing their speed would be a bloody stupid idea.

Serioulsy, you have no idea at all.

Seriously YOU ARE A TOOL:rolleyes:

Taking the rear wings of a supercar isnt going to make the sport anymore exciting having 32 competitive fast cars is what makes the sport exciting and that is exactly what we got this year, geez some people dont have a clue:rolleyes:

The action, the visuals, the characters, the Ford V Holden are all great at present. The racing is especially good in big events such as the Crow’s Road and Smashers Paradise. The Albert Park event would also be in that group if it was a real race and the event in China has the possibility of producing the best race of the year as the track is designed for F1.I love it but that doesn’t mean it cant be better.
The main problem is at times it seems it’s a more like a procession than a race but this not just about grip derived from spoilers or what ever, its because the cars have been designed to be almost identical. Dumbing down the cars is like trying to put the jeannie back in the bottle, the teams will find a way around it, then there will be parity noises by the losers. You remember parity don’t you, that is something they don’t care too much about in F1. Parity is important because the cars must be almost identical but this leads to some races where the best chance to up a position is in the pits. That’s not ideal
The cars must be even because the Manufactures that support the series need a fair shake for their dollar. There is more emphasis on this now with Blueprint than ever., eg at Winton this year a second separated Ambrose in P1 and Bargwanna in P27.Both Manufacturers want to see their product win but they are willing to accept that it wont happen every round. They wont accept year after year look like the duds. Removing spoilers will not remove the evenness of the cars. So what do we do to improve? He’s my suggestion.
Develop better tracks, better format of races and expand from being provincial
To improve the comp, the format of the races should be standardised. The format of the actual racing is evolving into a more modern sporting format where competition is the same every week but still has mix of the old in it. Having races that are 150,250,300,500 and even a 1000km race', all in the same championship, is an anarchistic reminder of the past. It supposed to be caused due to the track size but really if the tracks are no good then get rid of them. Most of them are relics of another era. The best racetrack is Bathurst, the best event is Adelaide, they should be the templates of where V8Supercars are heading. Tracks should be at least 4kmm long and provide passing opportunities in at least 3 positions and should have facilities, which match football grounds for comfort/amenities. The race format should be heading towards where racing has more input rather than qualifying. A couple of shorter races on Sat and an Enduro on Sunday. The enduro should also NOT involve driver swaps in the Championship. A big selling point of the sport is the drivers and it loses its rhythm by combining drivers in the one cars. Racing at Bathurst shouldn’t be lost however, I suggest that we could have more than 1 event at the mountain, a standard format in the championship earlier in the year and then the traditional Super Enduro 1000 as a separate event as the rightfull Grand Final that they refer too.
No argument the V8’s are currently healthy but I believe they can be bigger and better. The V8's future is bright if we don’t let our past restrict our thinking on the future. There is no reason its future could not parallel Nascar in the US if we can get a product that is watchable in primetime. Any car must be able to win any weekend, to achieve this, small time operators need to be gradually persuaded that Konica is their more natural fit. The aim should be to have 16 team x 2 cars each , 8 each manufacturer and they be of a super high quality
As hard as it is to swallow, I would even consider allowing a Japanesse Manufacturer into in it if :
1,Put up several Millions surety they would be in the comp at least 10 years
2, they put up huge dollars to re-develop a local track say in Brisbane or Perth to a high quality
3, They sell a v8 car to keep the illusion of track/road parity
4. A race in Japan

The time has come to recognize that the Championship is more recognized than ever. Its future is as slick product that is great live event, not just competing against AFL or Union but against Musicals or Rock concerts. Not just being highly competitive at some track, somewhere but racing at big time tracks that are fan friendly and a product that is highly interesting on TV for RACING as well as pitting.

The racing this year has been boring. Read the letters in Auto Action or Mortor Sport news. Even THEY acknowledge the problem. Which is?

Cars NOT being able to pass because of downforce being taken away when they're behind another car. Happens in every race and happens in a lot of different kinds of motor sports.

Yes, parity will make cars the same. But huge wings and increaingly aerodynamic cars make passing now extremely hard. On the other hand, less downforce takes out that equation for passing.

It comes down to increased driver skill. And far better throttle control. And far better racing and more passing.

Anyway, why the big stink? Not that long ago this is how it was. No one complained then did they?

ambrose was clearly the best driver all season. the only reason the championship was close was because of the ridiculous points system used in 2003 which rewarded consistency rather than wins. you can even drop your worst round. pathetic. ambrose would have taken out the title before bathurst had even rolled around if avesco stuck to the pre-2003 points system.

i'll tell you what's wrong with supercars...they're all a bunch of b*tches, whinging and whining at every opportunity.
