If they are currently big then they aren't struggling.
City are punching well above their traditional weight as you know. Being gifted the commonwealth games stadium made it possible.

I will never deny how lucky we have been in the last 10 years.

I have supported City through thick and thin for almost 35 years and if not for basically a flip of the coin decision it wold still be all thick and no thin.

West Ham will similarly benefit when they move. They have huge latent support in Essex and Kent

Absolutely.

I wouldn't mind seeing West Ham as the strongest club in London. Stronger than Spuz anyway.

I remember when Hereford was a first division team. Don't I?

I remember when we beat Gillingham in a play off final.

It was only a few years ago so that's not really a stretch.

According to Wikipedia Hereford only ever made it to the Second Division (in 1977) before plummeting back to obscurity. They did knock Newcastle out of the FA Cup in 1972, maybe that's why they stick in my memory.

Bull.

So uh, silly question here (don't follow soccer) but is an English footy manager basically the equivalent of a coach in Aussie Rules? For some reason I have always just assumed that 'manager' broadly translates to 'CEO'

Manager basically equals AFL head coach

When they were non-league. We beat Man United at Old Trafford in our next outing.

It's usually here you'd put something like "at least it's never dull", but since Cabaye left that's just not true.

No, like so many others you're confusing them with Hertford Town FC:

In 1966–67 they won the Herts Senior Cup, whilst a second East Anglian Cup was won in 1969–70. In 1972 the club joined the Eastern Counties League. They won the league cup in their first season and finished third in the league. However, at the end of the season the Isthmian League formed a second division, which the club joined. Division Two was renamed Division One in 1977.

That's way too complicated ... I think I just overrated Hereford's status. ;)

Now it's never not weird.

Not so silly to me...I don't know either

As El Scorcho says, it pretty much equals AFL Head Coach.

But there are varying degrees of responsibility from club to club and manager to manager. Some managers are at the complete whim of owners and may have a director of football over them (roughly the equivalent of Football Ops Manager/List Manager), whereas others have a lot more control of incomings and outgoings similar to an NFL Head Coach who also has GM responsibilities.

Almost all top-flight managers have the last say in who their assistant coaches are, so when the likes of Moyes and Villas-Boas get sacked, pretty much the whole backroom staff go with them. And the next manager will bring a handful of his guys with him.

Well, it's a sore point for we Hertford natives. They think because they've got the SAS and a breed of cattle that they're somehow superior to the birthplace of Deep Purple!

LMAO. just did a quote for two gay guys at their house. Discussing a difficult installation

Feminine gay guy: Can you install the job or not?

Me: It can be done but it's a pain in the arse.

Uncomfortable silence.

Shocked faces.

Me: OK. Let me know if you wish to proceed.
( POQ LMAO)
