And Les Mis is, was and always has been complete and utter aids.

Edit: the musical that is

My high school did Les Mis as it's big musical and in order to meet some sort of year 12 requirement myself and a group of mates signed up to be stage hands. We proceeded to accidentally (really) spill turps all over the hand painted fake boulders, trees and environments. This didn't go down well.

Best, Les Mis, Ever.

How am I just finding out about this

Red House my first record ever.
The original english pressings of Hendrix albums can be worth a fair bit in good nick, I remember going to a garage sale as a teenager and some old english bloke was offloading all his english pressings of Hendrix, The Who, Beatles etc. etc. for peanuts.. of course the dopey teenage me was like "who cares man you can get all this stuff on CD"

*But even australian issues of his stuff can hold decent value due to albums that have been withdrawn etc. over the years, quite a number of posthumous albums were only issued on vinyl.

Jimi Hendrix Original UK 1st Pressing Track Records Are You Experienced 1967 on eBay now.. bloke wants 400 as a starting bid.

Even stuff like War Heroes getting 60 buck bids

Had a mate when I was 15 who's dad had an Axis Bold As Love first pressing.
We used to think it was like the ark of the covenant.

I used to say all kinds of crap about musicals until one night in London I decided to give Les Mis a go. It was brilliant and completely changed my views on musicals, forcing me to reconsider my prejudices. The film was good but Crowe's voice is disappointing. No one in the film even get close to the quality of Colm Wilkinson and Philip Quast though.

Our local newsagent saves all those cd's on the front of music magazines and gives them to me every now and then. I chuck them in the car and on my daily pilgrimage up and down the M4 listen in to whatever turns up.

Among the barely listenable shit I endure (Mojo/Uncut/NME/Q best new releases 2015) there are some amazing discs they come up with. On the weekend I was listening to music that influenced/inspired Mick Fleetwood to start a band. Lot's of blues and old rock and roll and all of it was really ****ing good. I am no fan of Fleetwood Mac in fact they bore me senseless but it was a really good listen. The Keith Richards one was shit hot too.

What is your favourite newsagent story?

My local newsagent in Whyalla for a while was the late Jim Hewitt, who was the GM of Woodvile back in the early 80's and he became the Grand Boss-man of Whyalla football for close to 30 years.

He didn't give me a damn thing though.

Where's the best place to offload vinyl and/or get it valued these days?

There's a web page called Popsike that lists pretty much every record you can think of that's ever sold at online auction (basically eBay) and every price it's ever sold for. It offers a pretty good guide. Have seen a record I own a copy of (same label, pressing etc) on there that's gone for US$1300 on eBay.

Edit - The record of mine in question has actually sold for US$1100, not $1300, but that would still be AU$1500.
