And he was in a Sonic Youth film clip years ago which gives him cred.

But then Scientology....

Jason Lee invented the 360 kickflip

I've been watching so much old skateboard footage on youtube lately, especially of Gonz. What a legend.

I went to the Emarcadero in 1994 just to watch. It became off limits a couple years later. That place must have featured in every early 90's skateboard video.

Yeah, the Scientology thing is a blot for sure. Still shoudn't cloud the good shit he's done. Along with The Gonz, Natas, Thiebaud and others was something of a pioneer of modern skateboarding.

i'll never forget meeting Tony Hawk, Mike Mcgill and Steve Cabalero when they came to adelaide in the early 90's, wish i still had the t=shirt they signed :-( . I do have an original Tommy guerrero deck which i rode the other day to my kids amusement

this is the design but i have a yellow deck

Tommy Guerrero plays music these days and still runs Real Skateboards with Jim Thiebaud.

The first deck i owned was a Sims Kevin Staab. The last deck i owned (mid-90's) was this Kris Markovich model on 101 Skateboards.

I am thinking of getting these ageing bones on a skateboard again just to roll around.

Wanna sell this? :)

no way, the deck is in pretty poor condition, but it reminds me so much about how cool being a kid was, and there's something about going for a skate that is still so cool, it felt wicked going up and down the street until i tried to olly and went ass up. i would be interested to know how much it is worth though, it has rat nuts, slimeball wheels with nsa bearings, reflex trucks. i'll post a pic tomorrow if i remember.

I remember as a kid putting "skateboarding is not a crime" stickers all over the place

It sucks that so many rad brands from the late 80's/early 90's have turned into K Mart brands. World Industries, Vision Street Wear etc. etc.

I know! Steve Rocco was such a sell-out. Target ffs!

I loved the Jeremy Klein video part in Birdhouse Project 'Ravers' from 92. I still have that VHS in the shed.

You can just walk into a shop these days and pick up a pretty good complete set-up for under $150. Even cheaper if you don't mind getting a blank deck, which is all i really need. I reckon watching all these youtube video's of 40-plus year olds like Gonz still going strong makes you feel like you're never too old....even if you do suck. :) Even John Cardiel, who was told by doctors he'd never walk again, is back on a skateboard.

My good mate Dan has just started a skate company, called Miasma. He'll have decks soon, when he does I'm gonna hit him up for one.

Did you ever see the Gator movie 'Stoked'?
can't remember that one , we used to hire all the skating vis from the local store, bones brigade stuff i also remember a guy called natas and some of his videos

Don't you have to have grown up and settled down to the have a mid life crisis? I'll never have to 're-visit' my youth because I've never left it.
