There has been a shift since the TDU went to Channel 9.

The TDU coverage was basically a SA tourism infomercial with cycling in between. I honestly don't think Tim Gilbert is in as much love with the Adelaide Hills as he pretends to be.

As a live sporting event, the TDU appeals to me about as much as watching grass grow. Get up early, drive out to Outer Woop-woop, set up chairs and rugs. Wait three hours then watch the entire race flash past you for 2 minutes. Pack up and go home.
I'd rather go watch the Brighton Jetty Classic - at least there's a chance of someone getting attacked by a shark for some entertainment.

I sort of felt the same till i went to the corkscrew stage the year before last, watching the climbers barely break a sweat while other dudes seemed to be going backwards gave me a healthy respect & i guess it gave me more time to take the whole field in on a tough climb not just flash and their gone... my father is a mad keen cycling buff even raced a bit when he was young, he dragged me up there glad i went
