What's their reputation like in Australia? I know their former singer went on to become a politician but I haven't heard much else about them in a while

Some people still love them and talk about how they were great live etc, but generally young people not as much. They still get a lot of play on classic rock radio stations.
As someone in my late 20s who missed their heyday, I don't like them at all. I'm not sure what the fuss is about.
Live they were something else. Albums up until Red Sails were all brilliant.
They went black and I never went back*
*no racism
Wedding Cake Island was their best song
It's a very very good instrumental piece but they had many good songs.
For a band that didn't rely on baby baby or love (apart from Loves on sale which wasn't really about love) there were brilliant lyricists.
You and I would kick a few snags in that compNick Salter kicked 14 goals in the NEAFL on the weekend

Actually, there's a lot of awesome in that list, I take it back. 80s just as good.
Also, Dylan Grimes is into his sixth season as an AFL footballer while Steven Salopek sells Real Estate.
Every time I see Stew Crameri playing I think of Nick Salter and go "how is the world why it who".

Salopek, gee, always wondered how he could produce a near best on ground at Adelaide Oval 2011, before falling to Glenelg reserves in 2012.
Remembered fondly as Rock n Roll icons, despite most aussies being able to name maybe 3 songs? The dancing maybe overshadowed the music, but that's kinda like saying the same about Michael Jackson. The dancing is ******* awesome.
More of a 70s guy myself.
AC/DC, The Angels, Rose Tattoo, Cold Chisel, Australian Crawl, Dragon, Stevie Wright...
80s Australian rock was a touch overrated in my book, but still good.
Dragon, Midnight Oil, Hunters & Collectors, Hoodoo Gurus, INXS, Boom Crash Opera, Noiseworks, Jimmy Barnes, Choirboys, Crowded House, Mental as Anything, Men at Work, Divinyls...

I used to love Men At Work as a kid, I had one of those 80s rock CD compilations with bands from all over the world and it had a couple Men at Work songs. Then my parents got me a live CD from them. It is probably still somewhere in my house haha

His shoulders were shot by then ... didnt help his career .. trying to turn him into a running half back
I think if I hear 'Down Under' one more time my memory will commit suicide. It was played everywhere after Australia won the America's Cup in 1983, relentlessly. Everywhere.
Get ready for this monstrosity over the ANZAC weekend...
