It's worse that 7 people liked her comment.
So un-capped immigration into a country with a economy that is heading south, and unemployment rates heading north? That doesn't strike you as something likely to cause issues? So either Australians lose job opportunities to immigrants or Australians pay for welfare for immigrants though taxation?

There is a reason this country has been in the shit since Howard was voted out. He had the balls to do what needed to be done. No one since has.

Just my two cents.

More people = more demand = increased economic activity = ???? = profit

Middle East is a cesspool. Australia's situation is SIGNIFICANTLY worse now, than it was under John Howard.

What 'situation' is that? I think perhaps you need to read this cracker of an article: https://www.themonthly.com.au/issue/2015/july/1435672800/richard-denniss/clowns-and-treasurers

Australia's mining boom was the reason our budget sheets looked nice during the Howard and Costello years, not some economic wizardry.

As usual, Howard lasted for so long because the public didn't like their other options. Latham was an actual psychopath and Beazley was viewed as a 'good bloke' but never taken seriously because he was a fat bastard. Let's not forget that Howard was unceremoniously turfed from his own safe Liberal seat. Hardly going out with dignity.

And an important life lesson from Louis CK:

Migrants have absolutely ****ed Sweden. That's a fact. It's decline has been tragic. My mate has spent the last five years there and he and his swedish partner are working their assess off to get to Australia before it all goes to hell in a big way. Europe is going to be an interesting case moving forward. I just hope Australia observes any outcomes and learns from them before making any big commitments.

Immigration is capped in Australia.

There is absolutely no risk of them taking our jobs, I read something on the economist (typically a source that leans quite far to the left) that said some horrendous statistic like 80% of Muslim migrants aren't employed. They outlined a few things that could be done to assist. What we need to do is create unskilled jobs to take advantage of the man power. There is plenty of work to be done prettifying the northern suburbs for example.

What a lot of us here in Australia don't get is Europeans can empathise with immigrants needing sanctuary due to political changes in their home country or wars. We mostly take for granted the relatively peaceful situation we enjoy here. This is something Abbott etc won't understand.

Perhaps the figures you suggest are due to the blocks put in place by our government restricting migrants from entering the workforce? My wife was involved in a program until a few months ago with un accompanied minors where they were allowed 85% youth allowance whilst they were still at school & under 18. Nearly all of this went toward the service that accommodates them. Once they're 18 this was cut and they're on their own, unable to earn due to visa restrictions. So back to detention.
All the programs are scrapped now, not due to any failure, in fact the kids were almost all grateful and making great steps forward despite the terrible adversity the left.
None of this makes sense to me. Our country has had a proud history of accepting migrants and using their talents for its advantage. Somehow we've marginalised this latest wave based on the ideologies of a few arseholes.

so we train them to be hair dressers and beauticians?

GOOD news, everyone! Bender the robot — possibly the coolest letterbox in the Adelaide Hills — has been returned just days after being stolen.

Bender has been something of a Belair landmark for years. The 1m tall, 60kg robot letterbox has brought endless joy and delight to locals.

A letterbox brought 'endless joy and delight' to locals? Things must be pretty dull up Belair way.

Migrants taking our jobs was only the first part of the original point. The second bit is that failing that they will take welfare which is a direct drain on the economy for no return. It's going to be either one or the other, that's a fact.
Uh no, it's really not.
