After busting my balls making this Robin the Boy Wonder costume, there better be some loose MILFs at my nephew's first (superhero-themed) birthday party today...
....you busted your arse making a robin costume to pick up milfs....

My one year-old nephew is Batman. Basically his sidekick anyway. And today I'll be his wingman.

Women go nuts for his pick-up routine.

Will Robin score a MILF?
Will he get beaten up at the pub later?
And will anyone else wear a f@%king costume?

Tune in tomorrow. Same Bat-time. Same Bat-forum thread...

This seems the most likely outcome of the three.

All that would have happened is:
  • Business analyst goes through banks processes
  • Questions "Why are we even still sending paper statements in 2016?"
  • Develops recommendations saying "lets try phase out paper statements, and give an exemption for pensioners and those on welfare"
  • Executives see the report, sign it off, it comes into effect.
  • Fin
You always assume the worst of business Chiwig :p. Before making changes like these, decent businesses do run impact studies and develop the solution accordingly. Though there are some who would just do it without considering the finer details.

They only consider the bottom line (shareholder) and they have a track record of even ****ing that up and getting bailed out. They have instituted a system that relies on them through political shenanigans and therefore have a social element to their service, however they don't really give a shit about that either.
No need to assume the worst when it has been proven over and over, particularly with the np banks and their systems.

I should probably disclose that I am a CBA shareholder, lel

The amount of posties being put out of work by less physical mail means I won't ever go paperless.

Given the lack of regular mail deliveries I don't understand why Australia Post aren't trying to corner the parcel delivery market. Given the amount of people who order products online these days it should help cover the shortfall.

Don't get me wrong, I know companies like Toll and such are sniping their business but maybe the reason Australia Post is missing out on this work is because Australia Post is just not very good at a much higher level than the guys who ride around on the bikes delivering the mail.

No problem with this whatsoever. I would have thought everyone would use digital statements at this stage anyway.

They wouldn't be the only place to charge for paper statements. Regardless, the reasoning is threefold:

a) reduce their workload by encouraging people to take up digital statements

b) decrease their costs because they don't have to send statements out (paper materials, envelopes, charge for postage to their corporate accounts)

c) save the environment and all that.

They aren't the only place doing this. All it is saying is "we have a free environmentally friendly option to get your statements, if you want us to send a physical copy you could otherwise just print yourself, you have to pay."

More than fair.
But surely an organisation that is making a profit of $800m per month can afford to waive fees like this. I fully understand why many people reckon the banks are out of touch!

They are in fact waiving it for those who are vulnerable. It's never been a question of if the banks can afford to waive it, they have been since forever. It's just a business decision that they are changing a process.

You don't run business by providing services for free, regardless of your current profit margins. No one will even be talking about this decision in a fortnight, let alone a week. I'm in the camp that this is an incredibly small decision with incredibly small effects and a few have gone batshit over it despite the bank clearly stating fees would be waived in certain circumstances. Non-issue and an environmentally friendly one to boot. A current affair will love this shit though, BANKS ROBBING THE DISADVANTAGED!!111

Your free paper statements were a privilege, not a right.

Lol, environmental blackmail by huge companies attempting to guilt customers in to saving the business money by introducing a charge for a service that was previously free as incentive to switch to a new means of delivery that will same them considerable amounts.

I don't believe for one second that the people on charge of decision care one iota about the environment.

Does it matter if they care? If the effect is what it is?

Transaction accounts are completely free to the consumer, they provide us cards, Internet banking and the means to transact cash in many forms free of charge. People tend to forget about a lot of the services they provide completely free to their customers. They make their returns in the background on the cash you deposit into your accounts, and there is nothing wrong with that. Hell, they even pay the salaries of mortgage brokers who give the consumer pretty detailed and helpful professional advice free of charge.

Loans are obviously a different creature, but again - they allow you to purchase cars, houses, car repairs or parts, holidays and the rest because they are willing to lend money to people. Interest rates are awful, but they need to make money one way or another. They are privately owned after all.
