I have watched MASH every weeknight for like 3 years. I like BJ. The show is a far cry from the book though. Couldn't make a show like that, so so crude.
There's a book?

Yeah. It's all sorts of horrible and offensive but the campaigner in me enjoyed it. Trapper is the main guy in the book.

Same thing, really.Apparently he's dead
Apparently he's dead
Apparently Wayne Rogers, who played Trapper, is a financial analyst on Fox News now!
Maybe not anymore. Trapper died last December, aged 82. Apparently, he was a pretty astute businessman who made a mint in stocks and real estate.
Loved the Trapper/Henry era M*A*S*H. So many classic episodes. Especially when Col. Flagg popped up.
Altman famously hated the series...
Flagg was brilliant.
Was he the loony CIA guy? He was great.
I watched the original movie the other day and it's more in the vein of Catch 22, darker black comedy.
The TV show seemed to veer towards schmalz the longer that it went on.
I didn't like Col Potter because I liked how Blake was just as loose as the others. Changed the tone when he left.
Even though I liked Frank Burns, I thought Charles Winchester was a decent character replacement.
Charles had a bit of cunning about him
Spot on. Burns was a bumbling fool. Winchester wasn't and gave as good as he got.
For a show that is pretty one dimensional he stands out as being so depthless. Perhaps my image of MASH is more the BJ/Potter era where the show had a bit of emotional depth so this is why I think this. Frank and Hotlips were just total stooges early on.Frank was the perfect butt of Pearce and Trapper's shenanigans. A straight laced patriot cheating on his wife in Korea. He's being a bit underrated here by some.

I like BJ.
Speaking of re-runs, the other day 7Flix played Good Times and Diff'rent Strokes back-to-back. Oh, man, when I was a kid I dreamed of that line-up. Guess it is true: good things come to those who wait 35+ years.
And while belatedly watching this hour of sitcom power, Mum revealed that she'd been harbouring a deep-seated hatred of Family Ties since the mid-80s.
The Keatons were too damn perfect in her eyes.
Let it go, bitch...
