Life may have evolved on at least three planets in a newly discovered solar system just 39 light years from Earth, Nasa has announced.
Astronomers have detected no less than seven Earth-sized worlds orbiting a cool dwarf star known as TRAPPIST-1.

****ing awesome name if you are a super smart, future-building billionaire.Be a multi billionaire, but suffer having the name "elon musk"
Tough call.
It's only 39 light years away i'm gonna pop over in the half-time break tonight lelThis recent fervent search for inhabitable planets has scared my paranoid brain into thinking the powers that be have given up on this one. Not that all the war lust, greed induced famine or climate change denial didn't already make me think that..
Such a cheery post for a Thursday morning haha. Atleast it's game day.

Noone reported it. I just changed it to see if anyone would notice!

39 light years....considering the furthest man-made object from earth is only 137 AU from earth (and it was launched in 1977) and 39 light years is 246,640 AU then that means that after 40 years, Voyager 1 is approximately 0.055% of the way to this planet if it was aimed at it.
Given voyager is travelling 17km/s and 1 AU is 149,597,871kms, it will take 68,739 years to reach the planet. Best got on your bike.
It was a joke Beryl, I'm well aware of how ridiculously far 39 light years is39 light years....considering the furthest man-made object from earth is only 137 AU from earth (and it was launched in 1977) and 39 light years is 246,640 AU then that means that after 40 years, Voyager 1 is approximately 0.055% of the way to this planet if it was aimed at it.

Yeah but the development of Voyager 1 took place in a pre-Millennium Falcon world, so JBC will just hyperdrive his arse there.
Well a Parsec is 3.26 light years, so that would mean...oh wait, Star Wars used a unit of distance as a unit of speed.![]()

The minuteman missile can fly a nuclear warhead from the corn fields of Nebraska to Moscow in 20 minutes, so technically not far off the mark, just comfort factor and cost factor to sort out.I'd be happier with a form of flight that gets you to the US in 20 minutes rather than hyperdriving 39 light years to another solar system.

What?I'd be interested to know if it was reported by someone recently on holiday
Minor landing issues I'd say tooThe minute man missile can fly a nuclear warhead from the corn fields of Nebraska to Moscow in 20 minutes, so technically not far off the mark, just comfort factor and cost factor to sort out.

I went into a mock up of a Minuteman II silo at the Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota, just sayin'You sure do love your minuteman missiles, don't you.

"... but then that campaigner that is always mocking me is a Port member so, um..."hahaha old beekeeper mate.
He's talking to someone. "I'm trying to workout if I should become a crows or port member. I like to see south Australia do well so I like both teams."
I'm thinking "oh boy here we go."
Then he goes "but...crows games are so happy clappy whereas port fans really get into it. Even if there are only 30,000 there they make so much noise. I'm going to get a port membership I think."
Based apiarian guy.
