You seem to have a very narrow view of what a business is and why it employs people.

For most businesses, growth is associated with increased number of employees.
Ergo: if you want to grow (and make more profit) you will have to employ more people.

Business growth is not measured by number of employees. I am not sure where you got that from. The key metrics are revenue and profit. Actually, revenue and/or profit per FTE is a key metric for efficiency, the higher the better. Similar to return on assets, return on capital, etc.

Because the world moves on and any decent society will continue to improve living conditions for all.

Weekend work is in no way an anachronism. These people still miss out on the most. We still live in a 9 to 5 Monday to Friday working society and people who work outside those hours are disadvantaged to how much potential they have to enjoy themselves.

Here's another. Parents with children that require care. If they work on weekends, then they would have to arrange something that may cost them money. Regular business hours workers don't. They have school to do that for them for appropriate aged kids, maybe one or two hours til the parents return, instead of a full day. Their lifestyle is effectively cheaper because of it.

I did. Instead of thinking 'hey I put in the hard yards, gee it would have been good to have a bit extra for weekend work like people today, they deserve it and it would be a backwards step to see it reduced or taken away' it seems to me you've gone the other way.

I take it you've witnessed the debate between Bill Nye and Ken Ham with regards to the probability and practicality of Noah's Ark? I'm still finding bits of grey matter from when my brain exploded listening to old mate Ken.

I'll tell one thing, I wont be taking them to karaoke. I'd be giving it up to stay in with them.

I ****ing hate people who let their kids run around a pub til like 10:30 at night and demand everyone else adjust their behaviour. If I wanted to sing a song with curse words I'm going to. If someone else wants to sing Judas Priest or Metallica, let them. What's more I hate it when you put them down for a song so they can barely articulate the words to Dora the Explorer or whatever the **** kids are in to now. This isn't young talent time and if it were your sex trophies still wouldn't qualify. **** you kids and their sensitive ears. This is an adult environment.

Although this did get a rousing reception.

I didn't say business growth is measured by the number of employees.
I said that most businesses will need to employ more people if they want to grow.
