Prediction The rebuild could be long.. years if not a decade

We finished second on the ladder last year.

Lists run closer than people think. Like I've said since it was announced, this year is a totally idiotic cluster**** and nobody knows that better than the players. The succession plan is ridiculous and every body is putting their careers on hold just to fill the pockets of one selfish arseh*le.

I'll judge the list once we actually see what Carr can do. You might be right, but might be wrong. Let's see.

In regards to the state of the list this year specifically?

Because they previously handed him a list that went into back-to-back home Prelims as handsome favourites…
It is not the recruiters imo. Hinckley has everything given to him. He is just a deadset failure as a coach.

Agreed.

When the dust settles on this era, it says a lot that the bulk of our most famous and best wins came as underdogs, and most of our infamously dire losses came as pre-game favourites.

For all the talk of ‘learnings’ and ‘maturity’, that quirk never changed from year to year.

Even when we were 12 and 1 in 2014 we shat the bed and missed the top 4.

A poster away from another straight sets exit under Ken.
It was our last roll, this season was always going to be a downer.
We won a lot of close games last year and that inflated our ladder position.
A couple of those results go the other way and we’re about 10th on the ladder
I was always hopeful we was good enough to snag a flag but that was more hope than anything.
Once we get injuries we are stuffed because of zero depth.

Also, as I keep banging on about. If we played a system say like Collingwood, we would at least be competitive week in and week out rather than the box,of chocolates stuff that the Ken coached teams keep serving up.

So how do you explain our bottom 6 players being fringe players at best and having little coverage outside the 22.

Outside this forum, Ive spoken to a lot of people both very passionate Port supporters (ones that go to every game) and non Crows opposition supporters. Collingwood, Carlton and Sydney and none of them including myself share the sentiments of this board on Hinkley.

We are poorly coached no doubt, that’s just one of many things that need changing.
When our players get injured they’re out of action for months, all these soft tissue injuries can’t all be bad luck.
Our fitness is shocking, we look like old age pensioners in the last half of every game.
Everything is basically shit, you’d get a more professional output at Semaphore Centrals netball club.

Whilst true to some extent, Port also won those games on the last stretch with injuries and/or players out. They also beat the team, Hawks, who were on a good run with no real injuries except Day and Port literally had the youngest team in the finals. Last night against Freo the commentators, Shoefield specifically, went on about Freo being one of the youngest sides except Port are younger especially last nights game. My point is, the fact Port have been able to continually rebuild on the run year after year whilst not always perfect, to be 2nd last year on the ladder and reach a preliminary should be given more credit but never is... especially being in finals consistently the last several years with the same younger side or around 10th to 18th youngest within that time frame.

If Boak retires and its primarily the team we are seeing currently, they'll be borderline youngest/less experienced on par with Tigers.

Cannot disagree. If the club can fix even most of it we should be on our way.

With all the chances we have had I’ve never been 100% that the team was good enough to win a flag. As I said I did hope and at one time that hope looked like it had a chance.
I still believe we have too many deficiencies down back and up forward. We rely too much on our midfield to carry us, if they break even we’re screwed.
We had guys getting a regular games last year who wouldn’t get a start in either of the grand final sides.
Guys like Jed,Mead,Boak, Evans,Narkle,Sinn Ratugolea and so on.
People are dreaming if they think you’re winning a flag with those names in your side.
Yes every team has there Billy Frampton’s in there premiership side, problem is we have to many.
Our bottom 6 are bush league at best.

If you look at the talent Hinkley has had and burnt in his 13 years, it's so disappointing that we haven't had at least 1 flag in that time.

Right now today I would take acknowledgement from anyone associated with the club that there is a problem. An acknowledgement that a not insignificant part of their supporter base (big footy) maybe possibly has some insight rather than the outright hostility and disrespect that currently happens to dissenters.

Pretty hard to change behaviour when there is no acknowledgement or responsibility for anything.

We have produced intermittently decent enough football. The magpies won with a large number of top ups.

It's not the list (although we have gaps).

It's the attitude and attitude reflects leadership.

IS our team comparable tp Brisbane and zCollingwood?

Tredrea on radio last night that the Club was well aware that the current situation (the piss poor results) is very much an issue and that they're far from turning a blind eye to it all.

I don't think you'll get them saying anything more than that. The next time you'll hear from Richo will either be after the next win, or after Ken leaves.

According to the media, we finished high up the ladder because Hinkley is a genius, they keep saying Ken doesn't have the list, it's all Ken nothing to do with our 2nd rate plodders apparently.
