Sorry to butt in here but i thought it is a great idea to 'paint' the Dome Red and Black last night, looked great on tv and would've been good walking to the ground, would pump the crowd up a bit IMO.

Btw- Thunderstruck would be good but i always thought Highway to Hell would sound great before a the start of a footy match...to really pump the crowd up.

I thought the atmosphere was superb last night.

Thats what you call a proper Essendon HOME game when the supporters get behind the boys like that.

Every Essendon fan their wantedthe win badly and the players fed off it when they were fist pumping to the supporters after every goal.

The atmosphere was sensational last night. It was a true away game for Hawthorn.

We need to make it just like that against the Cats the next time we are at home at the Dome 3 weeks from now. Red and black everywhere. Our supporters are at their loudest after a few years of averageness.

Those old enough to remember 1984 would recall that our fans were among the loudest in the years leading up to that Grand Final after 19 barren years.

Then, the feral factor died a little bit after '85. The supporter base increased, yes, after being accustomed to winning regualrly, and being spoiled with premierships but the feral factor died a tiny bit.

I could sense the feral factor coming back last night. There is real desire to see the boys get back to being a genuine contender. The last time we were a genuine contender was 2001. That's too long. And for the first time in a long time I've been sensing genuine impatience. The fans really wanted it last night.

Plus, the other reason last night was great was because I was on TV. Three time in the 3rd quarter! Once with 14:30 to go, once with 14:01 to go, and once with 12:45 to go.

Being a bit of wrestling fan, love the concept of the air raid siren, just before the Bombers run on to the ground.

It's like the Stone Cold or Undertaker or The Rock etc, just before they came out. As soon as the fans hear that music, you know they coming through. So a fan sitting somewhere right in the back row, will also get excited.

I thought it all looked fantastic, and the atmosphere was great. A little disappointed I diddn't get to here the air raid sirren, as I was stuck out side and didn't get into the ground until after the match started (even though I was there half an hour early). But getting to my seat behind the goals at the exact moment Neagle took the mark and kicked the first goal made it worth the wait...
