Great video by Simon Hughes here analysing how he's gotten back to his best. The comparison of the release points between 2009 and 2013 is fascinating.

 
I just watched his spell against England in Perth 2010-11 - his action was far more round-arm and he was bowling at a consistently slower pace (5-10km/h slower by my count). No doubt having a higher arm makes a massive difference.

But he's also being used much more effectively. Clarke/Lehmann/McDermott have taken to using him as a Harmison-like shock bowler instead of reimagining him as a Wasim Akram-like workhorse like Ponting/Nielsen/Cooley did. Mitch has never swung the ball consistently so the latter approach would never consistently succeed.
