It was considered that he went quite hard at players and teams at times. He was the first to do it AFAIK.

His view was he had been a player and coach, and seen the game from all angles, so he could do such a thing.

I can respect that. I could respect unsuccessful coaches doing that too, Wallace, Buckley, and maybe even Hird. A lot more credibility than a Cornes type.
