This is why it's messy. Why was the ABF called in for an assessment if not their responsibility?

We certainly won't have the answer for that from that ABC article. Perhaps the findings of the review wil make it more clear.

I would like to highlight this has turned into a figure pointing of politicians. Where the finger should be pointed squarely at the departments. For me this is a department of health issue and not turning up during covid was clearly poor judgement.

You can see the border force interpretation of the testing was wrong but even if his interpretation was right, he still couldn't order covid testing. So despite the mistake, it was an irrelevant mistake.

The failure of the ABC journalist to identify this, should result in the immediate termination of the job. As either they lack basic decision tree logic or deliberately engaging in misleading and deceptive conduct.

It's quite damning actually but expect some of the same after the inquiry into Victoria's quarantine debacle. I haven't heard anything about criminal charges.

govt loves to exclude itself from legislation that hold civilian organisations to account. If this was a private enterprise, this would result in criminal negligence resulting in death.

The ABC doubled down tonight on the news.

They are now making the claim that federal officers should act outside of their powers as officers. They justify this as an ABF officer acted outside of his powers and examined the flu results form, that is precedence to "do something else" or "more" outside of his powers.

The ABC are fast becoming a corrupt organisation.

It was the evening news program.

The ABC did say the ABF had no lawful power in health but then went onto say the senior ABF officer took it upon himself to do the right thing to make enquires on the health of the passengers and crew.

He was then presented with documents, including the flu test results and had various discussions with the ships officers.

Essentially clarifying he had no authority to do what he did but as a responsible citizen, acted beyond his power and made reasonable enquires.

The ABC then doubled down and accused him of incompetence and then suggested he should have done more such as order medical testing. That is no different to you or I turning up with no authority and no medical expertise, making the same demand.

The ABC should face repercussions including terminating the journalist and editor. Why? Because the ABF and every other government officer will not stick their necks out and do the reasonable thing in the future. We’ll see instead “it’s not my job” attitudes.

Misleading and deceptive conduct undermines societies, news outlets, corporations, government, individuals and family.
