Is it just me or since the night we got gifted a win vs Fitzroy in 91 , we've NEVER had the better of the umpiring in Melbourne ??

It's never been so much as the amount of frees but the timing.
We always seem to cop a dodgy one that nearly everytime snuffs out any momentum / comeback.

We got absolutely murdered at the start of the third quarter.....resulted in two gimmee goals to the Bulldogs. That and the injuries to Sloane and Knights left us with little in the tank after that. The frees were 12 to 9 their way at one point...ending up 29 to 15....whilst some were legit there were a number that weren't there (non-free to Rutten, the HTB against Symes when he had no prior opportunity...both resulted in goals at a crucial stage).

I know that statistically speaking we had the highest ratio of free's against to free's for during a few of the early 2000 seasons.

I wonder if anyone is interested enough to calculate that for this year.

Yup, by the time the BS frees kicked in in the 3rd quarter, it shouldn't have made a difference. We should have been 8 goals up. It's our own fault for rolling over and dying and letting it get to the point where it can make a difference, again.
