shit calling on SEN, i wish they'd stop playing 'highlights' of their footy calling, especially from last year, especially of buddy's winning goal in the elimination final, amateur hour 'he kicks it from outside the fifteee . . .oh it's a goal! haahaha!' go away.

Morning Glory’s Week Of Turfology III

Turf-speak

The only interest will be, I reckon, whether someone will knock off Jeff Fenech’s watch from the changing room
- On the interest level of the Fenech vs. Nelson fight.

Could get severely injured, you’re 100 percent right, and could even have his watch knocked off as well. It’s a lose-lose situation
- On the condition of Azumah Nelson for his fight with Jeff Fenech

Jerry Seinfeld summed it up beautifully one day. ‘People who read the tabloids deserved to be lied to’
- On English playboy Bruce Hulls doing a tell-all story of sordid details.

I had to send off a very sharp note to Jenna Jameson once
- on topic of English playboy Bruce Hulls’ story of sordid details.

I think the night Grand Final or even a twilight Grand Final should only be permitted on the proviso that there are no school kids at half time and there are no fireworks. Unless of course the fireworks are attached the school children … .
- On possibility of a twilight Grand Final

I haven’t read Readers Digest since I had a barber
- On R.D.’s 2008 list of most and least trusted people

Is Rob Hulls on the list? [Minister for Racing]
- On R.D.’s 2008 list of least trusted people

7:30 finish probably allows you time to get back home to bet on the trots so there are positives
- On twilight Grand Final

Turfy’s Take on Twilight Grand Final:

In all seriousness this is ridiculous, this goes on every year, for god sakes someone make a decision. If the broadcasters are paying 780-odd million dollars over 5-years let them decide if they want to have a night grand final. If they want a night grand final let them have it. If they don’t want to have it then put it to bed and we never have to hear about it again. But I’m sick to death of hearing about it every year … authorities make a decision stick to that decision and get on with it.

Turfy's pre-game/half-time entertainment problem - solved!
( who ya got? Melbourne Phoenix vs. San Diego Seduction):D

Photograph of a pink handbag on the front page of the Age sports lift-out this morning. That is saying don’t pick us up, don’t open the front page, don’t bother reading us, there’s nothing inside us today.
- On Age’s pink handbag photograph.

And on the Readers Digest list of most trust worthy people, Hutchy wasn’t there but I believe he was just in between David Hicks and Derryn Hinch
- On Craig Hutchison being on the Readers Digest list.

Dr Turf on fire again this morning.

Talking about Ross Lyon drawing a line in the sand, Turfy said that he had drawn a line in the quick sand.

Said that Campbell Brown was the first player to be found under by the MRP under the father son rule.

Talking about the AFL Monopoly boards, he said that Adam Goodes was on the get out of jail card.

Another great iron fist interview on SEN.

Schibecs and Jon Ralph interviewed John Elliott about Dick Pratt. Nice cosy chat and then after Jack's off the line, Ralphy started talking up how Jack cheated the salary cap and how he ran Carlton into the ground etc. Would have been nice if they had the cohunas to mention it to him directly.

SEN needs more Ox vs Adrian Anderson type interviews, not this wet fish stuff.

Yup, thought it was appropriate to show how he agrees with practically everything thats said, regardless if it's true or not. Couldn't be bothered looking for the post to quote either.

He's a strong man Doran.

He was on his soapbox about how on one hand Dick Pratt has donated a lot of money to charity and on the other he has cheated the country out of billions of dollars and how that makes an interesting balance like Robin Hood, yada yada yada. Then the next caller brings up how Dick Pratt's a good man cause he's donated money to charity, and Doran slams him, cause you can't associate the two...

Morning Glory’s Week Of Turfology IV

Turf-speak

Most of them written in crayon I suspect
- On Mick Malthouse getting 20-50 letters a week on coaching suggestions.

Carlton have applied to have all their home games at Skilled Stadium for the next few years just so they can be closer to their president down there at Barwon
- On Richard Pratt’s price fixing charges.

The two funniest blokes on TV would have to be him and Chief Wiggum
- On Sam Newman being the funniest bloke on television.

If he’s not the most honest bloke on TV, I don’t know who is
- On Sam Newman’s on-air persona.

I’m a huge fan of the footy show, I’ve been watching it for 14 years … and probably only missed a handful of shows … But I tell you what, it is time to get Sam Newman back. Sam was absolutely butchered by his network. They showed no leadership, no support of him whatsoever, forcing him off the air for four or five weeks … yes, it was Sam’s issue in the first place but they certainly compounded it with the way they dealt with it after that. But I think the show is struggling without him. I love Billy and I love Trev and all of that, and Gary and James, but we need Sam back. And I think the ratings have been a little bit slippery the last two or three weeks. Four weeks is long enough. Get that man back on the show before you lose half your audience.
nicole+newman+blanco01.jpg

Forget Phat Billy and Sam Newman, Turfy, spike the ratings with Nicole Newman :)

And Campbell Brown the only AFL footballer ever to be suspended under the father-son rule
- After comments about Brown calling the Kangas soft.

Were there extra ‘go to jail cards’ in the Collingwood one …?
- On what you would see in footy club Monopoly.

So is there a bit of a recall going on and getting rid of all the Dick Pratt cards?
- On [Carlton] footy club Monopoly

He is a walking valium machine
- On tennis commentator, John Alexander.

Doctor Turf - legend.:thumbsu:

Honestly Turfy needs a fulltime gig on Morning Glory. Know's sport, willing to have a crack at people feeding him a line, top notch all round.

About 15 minutes ago, a kid called Darcy and Pickers and told them that he stayed home from school today because he had an operation. They asked him what he had. He answers, "circumcision". Anyone hear it?

That wasn't a "live" call. That was earlier in the week to Doran and Robbo. They were just replaying it as it was hilarious.

From today's HS:

COLLINGWOOD chief executive Gary Pert has joined the board of radio station SEN. The Herald Sun can reveal Pert will be named as the sport station's newest board member today.

It is understood he had to receive clearance from Collingwood before taking on the extra role.

Pert was tight-lipped when contacted yesterday, but confirmed he had held talks with station management.

"I've had chats to the guys, but to be quite honest any sort of announcement would have to be formalised and sorted out during the week," he said.

"It's one of those ones that until it's announced I can't comment because it involves other people. There's a whole lot of courtesies through advising people beforehand, so it would be inappropriate for me to say anything at this stage."

Pert's boss, Collingwood president Eddie McGuire, is also involved with SEN as a footy commentator.

Pert was made Collingwood chief executive last year after stints as Austereo general manager and Channel 9's Melbourne managing director.

He played 233 games for Collingwood and Fitzroy from 1982-95.

If Positive Pat ever had any credibility, and I don't think he ever has, he has just lost it all by saying that the sports of Rugby League and Rugby Union should merge...

Maybe The Australian and The Age should merge...

Did anyone else here Caroline Wilson on 3AW on Sunday, just after 12:30?

Said she had flicked across to SEN and heard "some bloke named Richo, not Matthew Richardson" describe the Kangaroos as "like a one night stand that just won't leave you alone". She took a pretty decent crack at Richo over that comment, and over "the other bloke" (Schibeci I think it was) making some comment as well.

Pretty strong attack considering it was mentioning a rival broadcaster station of footy by name. Robert Walls or Tony Shaw jumped in with "So what Caro you're suggesting they all need counciling?" which was pretty funny.

Haven't heard SEN for the last few days, has anyone heard a response or it mentioned anywhere?

I heard Richo on Sun morning...I heard Carro on Sun...and I heard Carro go on about it again tonight.

All Richo was saying that after the past couple of weeks by North Melbourne everyone had said they are gone, can't make the finals and will struggle the rest of the season...but then they come out and play like they did against Hawthorn.

Which is why he made the analogy that they were like a girl from a one-night stand...who had been dumped (like how everyone wrote NM off) but now she keeps coming back and pestering you (by pulling out a performance that shows they can still make it).

It wasn't the best analogy but hardly something for Carro to make a big deal over.

Ten minute discussion between Doran and Thompson regarding where Cousins will play in the VFL this season (if he plays) and in the AFL next year.

Yet paperwork to play hasn't even been lodged, his manager Ricky Nixon said he may not play and he might be just training with a club and all clubs that have been contacted by SEN (Thompson) have denied that they have made any contact with him or his management.

This then leads to hypothetical scenarios involving if he plays for Bendigo then he might be interested in Essendon etc etc.

Just absolute dribble and guesswork based on a story by Mark Robinson this morning which may or may not be the truth anyway.

The EXCLUSIVE Robbo story full of "It's believed","he may","could possibly"
It must be a slow news day so Robbo just put that together to fill his weekly quota.

slow news day again for afl. for some reason there's so much innuendo and trivial stuff that gets reported/blown up. i think 2 weeks ago it was a slow news week and sen spent all day on the issue (cant remember what it was)

Was it Nick D'Arcy? Lance Franklin's CQ Bar adventures?
