hey people ..lighten up!! you are starting to sound like real "stuffed shirts" its meant to be light hearted (tho not stupid) at times..informative and yes, sometimes even risque!...where's your sense of humour?? As a female i have yet to be offended by anything Billy or anyone else on the station has said...stop with all the negative talk..if you dont like SEN, perhaps you need to be listening Neil Mitchell or Ernie Sigley..now theres a duo!!

People such as myself are only offended by the unmitigated stupidity of morons such as Billy Brownless. He makes Paris Hilton look like a Rhodes scholar.

The ratings went up- but not as much as they expected. 3AW crashed.

I actually thought the ratings which just came out was only for just around March-April. Apparently it also includes aroudn 3 weeks of Feb when there were only pre-season matches. So maybe that's one excuse SEN may look to.

That said, the figures still ain't good enough.

There has been barely any movement with the shows during the week, and the ratings for the weekend appear to represent figures which maintian the numbers during the week, rather than real improvement.

The next survey will tell us more, but if things don't work out, I think we may have to bite the bullet and say that there just isn't a market for a 24/7 sports station.

A bit of number crunching gives me these figures (pre-season, NAB Cup, real season)

They would've hoped for more of a bang but it's not too bad if they keep improving as the year goes on. There's even a bit of a hint that it might just be one of those bad surveys you get in radio.

I have my doubts about the whole ratings procedure.....over the years, have not heard of one person who has filled out a ratings form...i think they are a very select type of thing and only certain types of people can be bothered to fill them in......Having said that, I hope SEN doesn't go after ratings and just goes along as a specialist radio station (like 927) the revenue will take care of itself with the right marketing...as I believe they are doing... I have faith that they will survive....overall too good not to survive!

this peroid did not include the whole afl season to date... it included 5 weeks before the season started so it clearly wasnt a true ndication... however in some areas on the weekend the station went sensationall.... i think we will see a big noticable rise in the next ratings across the weekend period..

Friday Night: Richmond v Bullldogs
Huddo, Granland, Dermie, Jarman, Pickers (preview)
These guys were good, Huddo is a top caller and Granland for me is the fidn of the year... in terms of special comments... pickers pregame was good as he is very knowledgable and makes sense while Dermie i am a fan of although many arent.... JArman added a bit of humour to the call and if he wants to can add some good insight as well...

Saturday: Geelong v Fremantle
Granland, KB, Ox, Billy
Granland as i have already said is a gun... KB i am not a fan of but if he has to call then i think sat arvos is the best slot for him... ok just nothing spectacular.... Ox is much better on radio than TV.. almost like he is too nervous on TV, he creates talkback as well which is good.... Billy is perfect for a saturday afternoon as he adds humour, if he was serious can say some interesting things but hard to take seriously..... this team on sat afternoon did very well for mine... best sat arvo so far on SEN footy....

Saturday Night: Carlton v Kangaroos
Doran, Readings, Britain
Doran is suited to a Saturday night, is not the standard of caller as the others but is ok for a sat night when it is not prime time..... Readings is a gun caller he is extra good wen not calling WA games.... Britain is sensational as well as he provides some good special comments and reads the play well.... they certainly had the good game of the lot, better then hawks v saints....

Sunday (early): Sydney v Port Adelaide
Huddo, Beva, Pickers, Harf
this team as a whole is very good and full of the modern crop.... Huddo is a pro.... Beva has really impressed me and is a very good and exciting caller while Pickers and Harf are two of the best in the business in the modern day.. Harf can be annoying but i am a massive fan of Pickers and believes his insights r great...

Sunday (twilight): Melbourne v West Coast
Readings, Campbell, Waters
Readings is great better when not calling WA games as he can be biased without realising but he is a gun caller..... Campbell needs to learn to project his voice he whispers all the time, but he is alright i am not a massive fan while Waters is pretty impressive for mine, not one of the best in business but knows the way that WA footballers r which can be good to hear....

Anyone else got any thoughts???

The blokes from the Feddish bar are just mates of Schibeci who go on there for free in exchange for endless plugs of their bar, as well as getting their kickboxing mates to call up the show.

The constant plugging of the bar can get annoying, but the boys have a decent knowledge of sport - sadly, it's better than Tony's very vague knowledge of AFL and scraps of other sports. As a personality, Schibeci is good - he should be on TV if he didn't have "good head for radio" as a newsreader. But a show involving giving his opinion on sports is not suitable for him.

I've listened to him since the station started and he's a good bloke but his weaknesses are apparent. Great presenter, poor opinionator (is that a word? )

johnny totally agree with you there.

I've done enough bagging of him so i wont continue (mainly to the fact that SEN refuses to act or reply to my emails, and most other posters seem to agree)

I've really liked the previews on SEN, when they get hosts of different shows to mingle, adds a new dimension to SEN, wish they could afford to have panel shows as their daily programs, rather than some of the single hosts who seem out of words and ideas after 4 years.

Mulholland , in the early days of SEN they use to try to get as many ex footballers , current players , footy writers , cricket writers anyone to come on to shows do things for free and if they asked for any coin the idea was to then just get someone else , always a sucker somewhere .
I would have thought that being so far down the track and the AFL rights and all that , no one should be getting sucked in to be doing anything as a favour to friends or others etc.
Cant say I have heard any of those you have mentioned Mul" given the time of the night or morning you are talking about , but since when did you decide who was on your show by just inviting mates along dont they have to be approved or asked by those that make those sort of decisions at SEN.

I spoke to someone at Sen who told me that Doran went off his head when he was asked if he wanted to have Harford or someone else fill in for him.
Seems he was very sick yesterday and demanded he do his show no matter what.
Sounds to me like he doesnt want to have others get the chance to show him up ,didnt someone here refer to him as the weakest link.
Anyway seems he threw one of his tantrums and still did his show as sick as a dog!
Did I ever post here that common knowledge to many who worked at sen that Doran was actually asked by the mgt a year or so ago if he would consider maybe finishing up , they wanted to try someone else see if they could do a bit better in the ratings and he just said stick it up yours I have a contract.
Because of the stations finances then they couldnt consider a payout so they just let him stand his ground and keep on doing his show .
I am pretty sure the ones asking him to finish are not there anymore so he may have survived the bullet that was aimed for him for some time .
Anyway sounds like its the same old Doran still , you gotta love the man.

ive been dissapointed with the run home lately i thought that now because the ox is with channel 7 he would step up he's analysis and bring something new to the table but he is just plain dumb

francis has just been playing the straight bat and not really pushing any boundaries, i thought with huddo gone we might get to see an improvement in this area but i guess not

mark robinson is quality, he might be a fat grubby journo but to me he represents what sen should be about and when he's on its like a fan talking rather than the host who has something stuck up he's ass

Doran is the worst host, especially since he's doing 5 days during the afternoon for 4 hours. There are others on his level but at least they arent on for 20 hours during the work day.

I think Francis on the run home has really settled in well, his character is coming out more and more, and the ox is well he's him. Mark Robinson is a gun, fat prick, but is good. Love beg to Robbo.

Morning Glory has improved immensely since last year, while KB's show is probably the best going round, fat patrick is good for discussion, and i like the talkback on KBs show compared with the other shows.

Just one more thing, they were taking the best indigenous players calls on the overnight shift, and some idiot called in and said some Richmond player who was white, and everyone was confused, then the caller was told it means aboriginal, and he said 'oh, aboringanally'.

WTF is with these idiots, i do like disgruntled from Sydney "When the Houlihans were playing footy in the backyard as kids, do you think their mum went in hardest for the ball", and Brucey. Mark Franklin's show has some good callers, while seems to be a lot of nuffs and oldies on the other overnights.

And i did say this a while back, but they've got to somehow get more panel shows together. Worst it seems that the worst hosts are the ones who are one out, cept Beva who is a gun.

Some good info there. I've also heard from someone who does a bit of work there that Doran's a bit of a tool. Treats his producer really bad apparently.

I don't mind the format of his show, but he gives me the shiits, and not surprised his head was on the block.

Heard a bit of him calling footy too, and he didn't seem to know any of the players names.

I heard it mispronounced 4 times in 4 sport updates by the same person, who has a habit of mispronouncing any name not Australian. Least he didnt say Terry Henry again.

lol, listened to all his shows this weekend, and Finey is really growing on me, and im realising why people like his show so much. He had some real gems tonight, when he lets it rip he doesnt hold back, even though sometimes i disagree.

There was one call though that asked:
Given St.K made finals under Thomas despite having similar injury list to this year, would you sack Lyon if they dont make the finals.

Seemed like a logical argument, but Finey spat the dummy. I think he and KB get the best talkback callers, even though KB is a tool for the rules, i think these two have the best knowledge and ability to communicate an argument to the callers.
