what is the story with this guy? i havent been reading too much news of late, but i hear he wanted to play for some charity match a week ago for disadvantaged kids.

has anyone heard whether he was allowed to play?

interestingly this week we also heard that illegal drug use is more rampant in athletics than previously thought, including allegations of cover ups and Carl Lewis possibly being stripped of medals. do you think that such things would be possible within Australian Cricket (ie NSW or Vic covering up positive results, leaving it up to the ACB or ICC to catch them themselves)

He cannot play.

The ACB has confirmed that the ban stands, and have purchased a dictionary so Shane can check out just what the word "banned" actually means.

:D apparantly he doesnt read that much and possibly didnt pay any attention during the hearing.

They may have to get Bozo the clown around to try and explain it to him. Humphrey B Bear could be a backup if Warney finds Bozo a bit vague.

N0w he is returning to one day cricket. Has a new mystery ball.

I haven't heard about the new mystery ball but I did hear that Shane is reconsidering his decision to retire from one-day cricket. It would be good to see him continue playing in both forms of the game, especially considering he will be fresh after his enforced break from the game.

ala Tony Lockett.

New South Wales had to do something to try to keep people interested in the Swans after the "event drawcards" had retired. ;)

Actually he could of. The ban can only be applied to organised cricket. The ACB does not have influence over charity matches and it is a bit low of them.

low of them?? i sincerely hope other athletes caught using banned drugs do not compete in charity events whilst under suspension. talk about low, using charity games to improve your form when you should be doing time. thankfully the south africans saw through this guise and sent him packing.

When I first read this thread I thought Shane Warne had scored himself a cameo role on The House of Bulger :D

actually the comedy show on monday night had a bit of a go at him with a series of skits.

It appears Warney is banned from ALL types of cricket...

I was playing cricket in the street when he was walking down the road. I asked him to join in, and he obliged, however 5 minutes later there was an ACB representative who had pulled up in his Limo and pulled Warney away...

Poor warney, he was kicking and screaming, so the guys had to give him some pills to settle him down. Lucky they were only sleeping pills ;)

Warnie has been banned from all cricket until the end of next year's Australian home series

Yes those South Africans certainly have integrity when it comes to punishing cheats.

Just as long as you didn't give Warney some of those vitamins which have been recalled.... ;)

Seriously though, I don't think Warney should be banned from playing in charity matches, that is just silly. What's stopping him going down to an oval with some friends and practising his bowling so he is ready to come straight back into the Australian side after his ban ends?? At least this way, he would be raising money for charity while practising his bowling with some friends.

That's true. However, the suspension was for a positive sample on his drug test and that's why he is out for a year.
