Re: The Shield S7 Trailer

no way man... Ronnie's essentially a bit part character. Shane can't be killed off by a mug. He can only die at the hands of Vic... or vice versa.
Ronnie's stepped up lately. I can see him becoming a major character this season and killing Shane when Vic can't bring himself to do it but needs to.

hmm, i guess that is a possibility but honestly I think it would suck big time. One of the running themes throughout the whole series is the cain and abel relationship between vic and shane. Two sides of the same coin. Shane as Vic's failed and weak protege. It's been the defining relationship of the show and it deserves to be paid off properly. Having Ronnie do it would be a cop out imo.

Besides after Shane offed Lem I wouldn't think Vic would have qualms about finishing off Shane once and for all.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was Ronnie that took shane out. Where did you get the idea that Ronnie is a bit part character??? No way man. Ronnie has stepped up big time, and shown himself to be a guy that doesn't mind going all the way to protect himself and vic. This was illustrated perfectly when he found out Vic had shot Terry. Vic was mortified, but Ronnie just said "I wish you'd have just told me", or words to that effect.

Part of me thinks that vic might be put away, but teflon Shane and Ronnie get away scott free, only for Ronnie to take shane out in the finale.

Maybe "bit part" is harsh, but out of the four strike team characters, Vic, Shane, Lem and Ronnie. Ronnie has always been more or less the background character. I just think it'd be a disservice to the legacy of the show if Shane was killed by anyone but Vic, let alone a peripheral character. After all, this showdown has been building since season 3.

Having said that, with Lem dusted, Ronnie has stepped up and he has an important part to play in the final episodes, I just don't think he's going to be the one who pulls the trigger on Shane. Maybe he'll have a crack, but end up getting done himself.

I agree that there's still the strong possibililty that Shane could get away scott free. At various points they've all scraped away from impossible disasters. However I'd bet my bottom dollar that Vic won't still be a cop at the end. He'll either be dead, in the slammer or booted out. The last shot will be of him all alone with nothing. Very depressing and cathartic I imagine.

It'll either be that, or him walking out to go on patrol and to police the streets in his own unique way.

How awesome is Shane though? Sure he's an idiot and has done the unforgivable. But he always manages to come up with a way out. I just love the way he constantly saves his own arse. Whether it's coming up with a plan or kicking other peoples arses (although with every season you feel like the end is getting closer for him).

Walton Goggins is easily the best actor on TV at the moment. He could be in a room sorting out his sock draw while someone wass being strangled to death next to him and it would be Goggins your attention would be directed at. He's an extrodinary talent.

I know there have been threads on this, but where does one go to download season 6. Much appreciated...

And what of Acevada? I was cheering and dancing at the end of season 6.

Swipe to read: Having him team up with Vic was fantastic and completely unexpected. For 6 seasons they have been enemies. And even though they don't completely trust each other, they are forced to be allies for the final season and I love that.

By far the best TV show ever.

Just finished watching Season 5, and there hasn't been one bad episode in the whole series. Has everything you could ever want; Action, Drama, Comedy (in small doses), Romance, Brilliant acting and Compelling Storytelling.

One thing when watching I recommend on DVD only because on TV one episode isn't enough, you just want to sit down and watch a whole season at a time. I admit at first I didn't give it much of a chance after seeing random episodes every now and then, but about 2 years ago a friend bought me the first season as a birthday present and I was instantly hooked.

Nope. That honour goes to The Wire.

Great show, though, particularly seasons 5 and 6 (after the mediocrity of seasons 3 and 4). I'm very interested to see how they wrap it all up; the (up to the end of season 6 spoilers to follow...)"Mexican mob buying up commercial and residential property in LA" storyline has the potential to be awesome; I hope they don't stuff it up.

I thought season 4 was good, 3 was a bit on weaker side with less action, but still loved every minute of it. Also never got into The Wire just seemed like poor mans version of The Shield thought the acting wasn't as compelling but I think I'll go back and check it out when Im finished with season 6 as it took me awhile to warm up to Vic and the crew:thumbsu:.

Season 3 was definetly character driven and you had to have watched and understood the preceeding seasons to get it fully. I loved Season 4. Glenn Close was awesome and Antwon Mitchell was a truly great villain. Although Season 5 is probably the second best thing humanity's ever been responsible for. (Behind Battlestar Galactica)

In saying this, I think you are forgetting the following shows:

The Sopranos
Oz
The Wire

If you said it was the best show ever made by a network other than HBO, I might agree. Just about to start Season 4 when I finish the last 2 series of Oz.

I'm a big fan of Oz, but to be honest I don't think it holds a torch to the Shield. It's great, but it's last few seasons are so overblown that it becomes a caricature or a parody.

The Shield on the other hand, just gets better with age as the tension continues to build.

Oz doesn't belong in the same category as The Shield, The Sopranos or The Wire or Battlestar Galactica for that matter.

I always thought that The Wire was better than The Shield, but have decided the opposite.

i am currently halfway through Season 5, and it is awesome!

How good an actor is Forest Whitaker!
Halfway through Season 5?

You ain't seen nothin yet.
