One of my favourite tv shows and flawless on many levels.

Anyone a avid watcher back in the day?

Thoughts about the show?

Thoughts about the final cafe scene?

loved the show.......hated the final scene for the ending.....i don`t like endings that are open to interpretation i want to be definitively told what happens but that`s just me. cant please all the people all the time i suppose.

Watched and got the set on DVD ,haven't watched them yet though.

Will wait for a few more years .

Breaking Bad is as good as though

i liked how tony kept justifying it by bringing up how the tree branch hit the childs car seat.........the chick that chris knew that tony bangs in las vegas was ****ing bangin hot!!!!!!

Loved it at the time and again on DVD.

However, after watching the wire it just doesn't measure up. Still a great show though.

Oh and how anyone can say T wasn't killed amazes me. One thing I want to know is who organised it? Paulie? Butch?

What do you mean? It's very much obvious that Tony dies.

Think about it, each time someone walked into the diner, Tony sees them and we see them through the 1st person shot ie through Tony's eyes. We see Carmela come through, via the 1st person shot and then AJ, once again through Tony's eyes.

Now for a second remember every other ep, we don't once not hear the music during the credits. That's because Tony hears that music, which is different from the ending.

Now back to the final scene, you see Meadow attempting to park the car and the dodgey looking guy at the counter. He looks behind, to see his target - Tony. He goes to the bathroom and as this happens Meadow finally parks her car and is about to walk in. Then it's black for 10 seconds with no music; fairly clear what happened; the hitman shot Tony from the side right where the bathroom door is. The screen goes black because that's what Tony sees; nothing - he's dead and like wise with the music - he can't hear it because he's been fatally shot.

Unfortunately you sorta come to the conclusion that Meadow's bad parking had played a part. If she could have parked the car she'd have sat directly next to Tony and then made it difficult for the hitman. Whether or not he'd have still shot Tony is another story.

Took me a while to understand it properly but all the evidence is there to figure out what happened, as i've explained.

Biggest and simplest clue is Bobby at the half way end of S06.."it all goes black" to T on the boat. And it did.

Still love that 3 yrs on it still causes debate...much like my other fave LOST finale will still be talked about in another 3 years.

These producers were able to do it their way...so many other shows in TV history didn't.

LEDGER:

# There is no actual evidence that anything bad was about to happen -- just people in a diner who we suspected were bad because we watch a lot of movies.
# There is no way way that anyone with a motive to kill Tony knew that he'd be at that diner.
# The Sopranos never relied on off-screen action and secret twists. We were privy to everything. It was filmed in the third-person omniscient. The theory of a surprise killer violates the show's narrative structure.
# The show didn't romanticize violence. Violence was dirty, casual and explicit. The murder of its protagonist wouldn't be softened by climactic, artful, debatable twist. If David Chase wanted to kill him, we would've seen Tony blue and gagging on his own blood.
# The show rarely offered closure. What makes you think it would start in the final episode?
# Just desserts were not a theme.

the creators of the show definately wanted the viewer to think something bad was about to happen in order to create the buzz that they knew the ending would stir. in the end its your interpretation of what happened as it doesnt not actually show tony getting popped............maybe the shifty looking guy at the diner was just a shifty looking guy and left after he went to the toilet....who knows. i think the creators wanted people to make up their own mind on whether or not tony was killed as there is no right or wrong answer.

just my opinion though.......not saying im right and you are wrong

Yeah I get what your saying but I was reading an interview with David Chase who said clearly everything "Anybody who wants to watch it, it's all there". To me that sounds like there is an ending and Chase knew what he wanted to happen to Tony - death.

In season 5 Gerry Torciano got killed despite Silvio being on the restaurant table with him, before Silvio realised Gerry was dead he had his blood splattered all over him. Done before anyone realised what happened.

Also i think in season 6 , when Tony and Bobby were sitting in the boat drinking beers and speaking, Bobby said something like "I bet you don't even hear it when it happens".

IMO Chase planned a lot of this before, he knew he wanted Tony to die but it had to be in a certain way. Just the way how I interpret it all.

I wish they made one more season!! Sopranos is my all time favourite T.V Mini series. I have every season on DVD and every so often i put them on again and i am just as enthralled as i was the first time i ever watched them and only good shows do this! Every Season from 1 through to 7 is great and leaves you wanting more every time an episode finishes. The show seems to draw you in the more you watch it.

Pine Barrens is still my favourite episode when Paulie and Chris get lost in the woods after taking the Russian into the snow to dispose of the body they thought was dead!! :D:D

Was on 7TWO the other night.

By the way, what do you think was AJ's problem? He never seemed to have any enthusiasm for anything. Even beyond the depression, he was weird.

Was it just bad acting?

Discuss.

The producers portrayed him perfectly for what it would it would be like for a teenage boy growing up in that environment. He did have a smart mouth ( So did Meadow for that matter ) and pushed Tony's buttons quite a bit!! Not bad acting by any part IMO and he can only the play the role and the character of AJ to the script he is given. The episode when he tried to commit suicide was compelling viewing and would of hit home with all parents out there. A suicide attempt is a cry for help and the show nailed this perfectly.

Best TV show ever.

I've got all the seasons on DVD, been watching through them again and am up to the 3rd episode of the 6th season.

At first my reaction to the end was, "What the ****?", but now when I look back at it, it wasn't so bad.

I believe T died.

And I love the introduction song. I used to have it on my old mp3 player but I can't remember where I found it so I can put it on my new one.

I've never watched an episode, i love my mafia movies, The Godfathers (both of them!!;) ) Goodfellas, Donnie Brasco, Casino etc

I've bought series 1 & 2, I just need to get around to watching them.

This.

It's a show I'd love to watch the entire series of, but I have no idea how I'm gonna find the time to ever do that...

Well according to wiki it seems the actor himself unfortunately had issues. He apparently did an armed robbery on two brazillian tourists when he was just 16. That is ****ed, seriously to do an armed robbery, especially when you're only 16...

I've wanted to buy the season sets for many years now, but my interest dies down each time i find how expensive they are.... when they were reduced to under $30 a season, i still had my doubts... by the time i thought i was ready to make a purchase, they jumped back up to $70+ per season.

I was tempted to buy them just as they started showing it on 7Two..... i still havn't done it (especially after they decided to show them in 2 - 2.5 hour blocks, i can live with watching it weekly, but will spew if they took it off BEFORE the series' natural conclusion).
