What was the size of the crowd last time the Pies played in Tas?
Oh, that’s right, they’ve never been there.
Moving on, with an election coming, I can see both Lib and Lab getting smashed in the North and North West.
Independents and Greens will rule the roost, and no stadium gets built.
A good response to the AFL’s stupendous arrogance.
Roof indeed!
Why the hell would Collingwood want to cross the water for the sake playing in front of a paltry crowd, in paltry conditions?
Under a potentially, progressive, somewhat prosperous, comfortable new roofed venue, strong chance.
Arrogance, well that’s backward thinking.
More a case of ignorance on many of the non believers down south.
Enjoy the new school and hospital.

You need to get out more.
Read the comments by Martin Flanagan in the last week or so.
Btw, Pies won’t even go to Geelong: when did you last play down there?

Went to a match in Geelong circa 1980s.
Clubs and AFL realised to move forward they needed to play at the larger ground to cater for both teams, crowd, financial.
It’s called foresight…

You were lucky. We lived for three months in a newspaper in a septic tank. We used to have to get up every morning at six o'clock, clean the newspaper, go to work down the mill: fourteen hours a day, week-in week-out, for sixpence a week, and when we got home our dad would thrash us to sleep with his belt!

So now you know how the VFL/AFL has treated Tasmania over the last century. :D:D:D

Preseason game in about 2002. ;)
Do you really think the NWC & North will vote Green?????? How many independents?, Garland will be lucky to stay out of jail, let alone stay in Parliament.

Re the Libs, I strongly doubt it, I'd be very surprised if that happens, especially on the North West.

We'll know in 5 weeks I guess.

Yes, it would have been unthinkable in the past.
Having lived in Tas for 25 years, I found out very early how much dislike there is in the NW for Hobart.
In the last Federal election there was, I think, a swing of 15% to Labor, because Labor told them what they wanted to hear.
The Greens will go on a platform of no stadium, both the major parties say they support it, so we may well get a very surprising result.
Normal services will resume in Braddon in the following State election.

You really think the NWC will vote Green? Do you think Garland will be re-elected with his current illicit substance problem? Rockliff is very popular in Braddon. Labor have lost their 2 biggest vote winners. Winter is not known outside of his Kingston base, where he was Mayor. I just don't see a lot of change in numbers happening. Indeed a lot of people want a majority Government & IMO its really only possible with the Libs. A Lab/Green/Independent coalition would not work. Greens are too pig headed & the Labs & Greens actually hate each other! What do the Independents stand for? No Salmon, No Stadium seems about the extent of it. Nothing much positive in that lot.
I think if the Libs again get the major number of seats we'll be back where we started. If so they'd certainly need to be more consultative with the rest of Parliament. Minority Government can't act like its the majority.

Well you may well be right, after all, I’ve been out of the State for 25 years.
But Braddon? They went from anti Labor to a 15% swing in the Fed election.
Now Fed isn’t State, but just this once, they might swallow their beliefs.
As someone said, we will know soon.
Spilt milk - if that campaigner Demetriou hadn’t done the dirty on Paul Lennon and Paula Wriedt, Tas might already have that team. But that’s just the old man in me shouting at clouds.

You think a bloke who looks like this is losing votes over testing positive to weed?

Yes Dumbmitrio was an arzehole. He's added 2 financially problematic clubs without any concern for the number of financially problematic clubs already in the AFL. His treatment of Tasmania was a reflection on the arrogant attitude of the VFL/AFL clique. He was just a pathetic wanabe Collins st suit, football was just a means to an end for him.

The March is time to be on the day of a Tassie State rep side doubleheader at North Hobart.

If AFL Tasmania were half smart they would swap the July 5 and 19 rep team venues and hold the North Hobart games on 5 July, 2 weeks before the election.

If done well the sight of an overflowing North Hobart packaged with pro stadium types might help to drive home that while the numbers aren’t 80/20 in favour they don’t have to be as long as the 40 per cent (guesstimate) in favour are passionate enough.
The keys word being "If the AFL Tasmaina were half smart"

Last night proved their needs to be a roof on the Stadium.

Terrible match.

We're going to base a billion dollar decision off a sample size of one? As though there has never been a rubbish game at any other ground, including Docklands stadium?

Last night’s game aside, I wouldn’t want to host a concert like that without a roof.

I don't think you'd be hosting concerts in winter. Which is fine, cos no one tours in winter - the grounds in every other state are unavailable.

I can't wait to see all these concerts that people are using as a crutch not materialise...

All the Melbourne tennis centre is unavailable for concerts for 2-3 summer months. That’s a window

Tassie needs a team. Should of had its own team instead of gold coast (sorry suns fans)

Hopefully this stadium shit can be sorted out.
It's the ongoing cost of the stadium build and who picks up the bills IF the stadium runs at a loss which are the huge problems, and who pays for the maintainence of the stadium on a day to day basis?

The owner, like every other stadium or public infrastructure in the country. Parks, playgrounds, public transport, symphony orchestras, Museums, roads, bridges. Its about driving economic & social good for the community.
Did I miss much??

The answer to that is the Tasmanian Taxpayer.

The answer to that is a responsible government doesn't agree to that. Tasmania doesn't tend to have very responsible governments though historically.
