Yeh i saw that stat in the Record. Must say i didn't expect to see that.

Before the game when i saw it i thought to myself "wonder if that will come into it today". And i completely forgot the stat until about an hour after the game. I wish i remembered at 3/4 time to calm me down cause i was as depressed as i can ever remember being at the footy (the '06 GF probably shades it!)

A vital stat that many people haven't noticed about the Sydney Swans is that we have won the most last quarters in the competition. Beating Collingwood, Geelong, The Saints etc.. I found this interesting as many regard Carlton as being the fastest finishing side in the comp, yet we have won more. Many Carlton supporters and outsiders expected that if they were winning or slightly losing by three quarter time they would win in a landslide. Interesting.... Very.. Very Interesting IMO

Yeah I've noticed our 2nd and 4th quarters have seemed to be our best this year. Any stats on our 2nd quarters?

Yeah I've noticed our 2nd and 4th quarters have seemed to be our best this year. Any stats on our 2nd quarters?

1st Quarters - 10 - Equal 8th
2nd Quarters - 14 - 3rd
3rd Quarters - 7 - 14th :(
4th Quarters - 16 - 1st

This was after round 22 and doesn't include the final. With the final it becomes.

1st Quarters - 11 - Equal 6th
2nd Quarters - 15 - 3rd
3rd Quarters - 7 - 14th :(
4th Quarters - 17 - 1st

The only teams who lost more 3rd quarters than us were Richmond and West Coast at 6 and 5 respectively.

  • Bradshaw doing what he does best, taking 7 marks inside 50 and 4 contested marks. Goodes ably supported him with 4 and 2 respectively. For once we won this stat (17-11), usually a marker of a victory but not this time.
  • Kennedy a game high 15 contested possessions. Add 5 clearances, 5 tackles and 4 inside 50s
  • Season low clanger count of 35, as well as a above average disposal efficiency of 74%
  • Lost the free kick count 20-25, which means we lost the count for the year 469-474. Good to see some things never change :D
  • Much maligned McVeigh and Much maligned Moore both led the assist count with 3 and 2 respectively.
  • 23-20 bounces and 30-36 hitouts seems to suggest that we didn't lock it down as much as we would have liked and that it was an open game which suited the Bulldogs more.

If I can be bothered, I'll try and do a year-end summary some time soon.

Here are some more stats from footy wire.

Ranked 2nd in Hitouts Per Game
Ranked 1st in least Opponent Kicks Per Game
Ranked 1st in least Opponent Handballs Per Game
Ranked 1st in least Opponent Disposals Per Game
Ranked 1st in least Opponent Marks Per Game
Ranked 5th in Team to Opponent Kicks Per Game Diff.
Ranked 2nd in Team to Opponent Handballs Per Game Diff.
Ranked 2nd in Team to Opponent Disposals Per Game Diff.
Ranked 5th in Team to Opponent Marks Per Game Diff.

Ranked 13th in least Opponent Tackles Per Game
Ranked 13th in Team to Opponent Tackles Per Game Diff.

Not too shabby at all. Not too happy about the tackles stat though and is something we'll definately have to improve on next year.
