7 games to play - not impossible but a very tall order from here. Palace 8 points ahead, Norwich 6 and the Mackems 3. We'll need to claim a few scalps to stay up from here.

So I am sitting here 'enjoying' the last minute or so of the game and BANG I see a bit white flash outside my front window and the power goes off..... WTF
Rush to get the Foxtel/TV back on and yeah... we'd lost. That's it.

We're going to need to win games away at Soton and Liverpool to have any chance - not to mention we'll need to beat one of City or Spurs PLUS win the 'winnable' games we still have left (Norwich was meant to be one of them lol) - Swansea and Palace at home and Villa away...

I'll have a bit of faith until its mathematically impossible but kinda of feel deep down that we're gone.

You can have all of the faith on behalf of the rest of us mate. We're done. :(

What are depressing start to my Sunday

At least you have a Hawks win over WCE to look forward to!

2009 was way worse than this due to the unknown future that surrounded being relegated. I remember the night we lost to villa that sealed our fate and I happened to bump into a NUFC fan and just started chatting to him. He said that relegation was the best thing that could happen to us as it gave us an opportunity to clear out all the deadwood and build a team with dedicated players. Imagine a season for Mitrovic where he scores 25+ goals next year, the confidence he would have going into 2017/18. I don't know I'm just trying to be optimistic, but it's not a doomsday scenario. It may even see Ashley gtfo too finally.

You could be right mate - I was feeling pretty sorry for myself yesterday but I did see Leicester were worse off than we are now 12 months ago (fewer points) and somehow beat the odds to stay up.

Maybe it's wishful thinking haha - we haven't got a shed of spirit, determination or the leadership Leicester do sadly.

I still hope we can somehow pull something out of our backsides but....

in the likely event we go down:
  • Clear out of the board - Charnley has to go as he's presided over this debacle. Carr needs to go - can't spend $80m and flush to much of that on duds. Ashley while being a background figure this season is still responsible IMO (in part) for this. Yes he stumped up the cash (that was withheld for the last few seasons) but he also gave the reins to Charnley and co which backfired big time. If he doesn't sell up shop - best he can do is appoint a proper football director who knows how to run a club.
  • Playing list - either released or sold, those with no interest in playing for the club should be moved on. So much deadwood. Need to bring in battlers and players who are up for a fight - the Nolans, Bartons, Smiths, Butts etc who have iron wills.
  • Priority should be to get an experienced manager who is proven to be able to achieve promotion. Alternatively, get a fresh young manager and give him the resources to try and build a team up from the ground.
  • Have a serious look at the reserves and see if there are any kids who are worth promoting into the first team and seeing if they can be brought into the first team fold. Someone like Armstrong will surely be given a proper run next season regardless of whether we stay up or go down.
