But isn't it just a reflection of life in general? I.e., we often need an impending deadline to be stimulated into action. The whole "if it weren't for the last minute, nothing would ever get done" idea.

It's not necessarily logical, it's just the way things work.

Think clubs genuinely think if they drag this on til the end they might save a few quid, which is stupid in most cases. If the seller ain't keen to sell, then time doesn't matter for them, you'll end up actually paying more when there's not much time left as they hold the hand by then

It's the sorta logic that only works if the seller is very keen to get rid, which is rarely the case. Most times you get the Andy Carroll transfers from leaving it late

The Daily Star says United are thought to have offered an initial £12.5m bid for the centre-back, who they view as an ideal replacement for Rio Ferdinand.
But Benfica have told United they want £25m before they'll consider selling the 26-year-old.
According to Marca, Garay would jump at the chance to join United and agreement on a fee between the two clubs is the only stumbling block to any deal.

Not really transfer related (but might have broken a few clubs transfer dreams) but Michu has signed a 4 year extension with Swansea.

Interesting to see what the new buy out clause is

Probably depends on how much Ince wants Liverpool, Swansea are said to be willing to pay what Blackpool want so if he wants a move in January it's worth them waiting for the right bid.

Also, if he does move they'll still get a fee through the tribunal. Not sure if the sell on clause would still be valid if that happens so it might not hurt them that much financially having him stay until the end of the year. Especially if they think they can still sneak into the playoffs.

Just don't understand the hard on for David villa. 31 and coming back from a broken leg, barca aren't keen to sell nor do they have a reason to so he wont be cheap.

Surely hes not the only forward in the world that can improve our squad.

Our transfer attitude is so mindboggling with players that could improve the squad being sold left right and centre for reasonable fees for the most part. Yet we are still looking through the scraps of the bargain bin trying to save a few quid.

Well thats stupid, surely they wouldn't sell a bloke who's still effectively a kid and who they paid a fortune for. De Gea's got lots of flaws but he has some quality about him.

Problem they have is that the top of the premier league is no place to learn your trade.

Read something earlier drawing parallels between him an Tim Howard. Both have/had ability but when you're fighting for the title you can't afford a keeper that has a couple of pretty large flaws in his game.

Haven't seen one mentioned. But if there is one you'd think it would be £10m+.

You would think at least 15m

Amazing how you can sign a new contract without it being played out in the media for 6 months

Newcastle have confirmed the signing of French striker Yoan Gouffran from Bordeaux on a four-and-a-half year deal. He'll wear number 11.

For a pittance as well.

Liverpool bid £30 million for the Swansea ball boy- as he holds onto the ball better than Henderson

If your joke was a few months ago it would be more relevant, what's your next joke Cruyff? In Soviet Russia ball gets boy

Yeah, Cruyff14, you should know that Henderson scored a goal last week. It was almost as good as David Bentley's, come to think of it.
