Exact same circumstances as the rvp/arsenal position last year. Not suggesting tevez is as good as van Persie (or had as good a previous season), but would've thought perhaps at least £15m+ is a target city would expect. He would still have 2-3 good years left in him at least.

Good point although IIRC United were initially offering 15 million and only went up to 24 million when Arsenal repeatedly knocked them back.

Its set to rise to 15 depending on performance based targets I believe. Which is fair enough.

Yes that would be fair enough overall. I believe united owe arsenal another £2m due to a performance related clause within RvP's sale.

He was still a bargain!

Yeah, I think it's a great bargaining chip for all concerned. Selling club gets an initial fee and if the player continues to play well they get more for the player. If the player ends up sucking at the new club they just get the initial fee which is more enticing to the buying club. Seems like win win to me.

I only just found out that Mertens went to Napoli, great buy. Gun player.

van persie wasnt on 200k a week at arsenal, that also plays a part.

apparently selling him will cut the overall wage budget by 5% alone, and fee + wages saved adds up to about 28 mil or so.

would love to see us go after someone like bony. young, strong and wants to prove himself, would be about the price of tevez's sale + on much smaller wages.

a shame to see him go, even after his little argentina trip, for ages he absolutely carried us and has put in some tremendous performances.

It is understood Hull will be making a second bid for Hooper after the striker indicated he wanted to leave Celtic, and the only other offers on the table are from Championship clubs. Celtic are now realising that Hull offer their best chance to get maximum value for the striker before he has the potential to leave for nothing next summer. It seems more than likely he will soon be a Hull player given it was Celtic who reopened talks with the Premiership club, and not the other way around.

Will be disappointing to see Tevez go. Despite all the dramas he has proven to be an absolutely brilliant player for us, and will be remembered fondly by the majority.

£10m a touch on the light side although if it rises to £15m (is that what it is?) that seems about right given his age, contract situation, wages etc.

Down to Aguero, Dzeko and Guidetti. Can't see us not dipping into the market for a forward once if not twice.

What do you think of this? He's a good player but many I thought could make it from the Scottish league have failed.

Big risk I would have thought. Isn't proven at this level. Having said that, it could be a master stroke.

The Times reporting that Rodgers wants to bring Deulofeu in on loan for the season. I'd be very happy with that, very intelligent and skillful footballer. The next big thing to graduate from La Masia but by most accounts he's not quite ready to crack the Barça senior team just yet (particularly with Neymar coming in) so they want him to go out for a year and get some experience. Slightly different circumstances to our interest in Tello last year who was older and a step closer to the first team at the time. Could be doable, I'd be very happy if we pulled it off.

Think he'll be a great get, and not too expensive either from the sound of things (expect the final figure to be between 4.5-5m). If we could get Austin as well - who it sounds like we're keen on getting, we would almost have my ideal team (see ideal transfers thread). I think his performances in the Champions League demonstrate he will be a quality player for us.

Delusional if you think that.
Nah, have complete confidence in the type of character that Suarez is that if he stays, his commitment and work ethic wont change a bit. If he doesnt get his move this summer, it will happen next summer if we dont radically improve that is. But Suarez lives and breathes football. He wont stop trying cos he wasnt happy he didnt get to go to Madrid.

Agreed. Also, big clubs will be tracking him and watching his every move, is it possible he can go up another gear?

Not unreasonable to suggest Suarez's value may go up after next season. As others have said he isn't the sort to sit around and not put in, he doesn't have a problem with the club itself just sick of England. If he stays expect 20 goals + coupled with a good performance at Brazil 2014 (assuming Uruguay qualify) would see his value increase. There is a big difference between keeping a footballer who is disgruntled with life in England / the FA and a footballer who has fallen out with the club itself. I wouldn't be surprised now if he club was in talks along the lines of letting Suarez go (at a reasonable price) after one more season as we really cannot sign anyone of his quality to replace him at a realistic transfer fee and/or wages.

Well the rumour today is that Suarez has agreed terms with Real.

PSG is going after Cavani as well according to L'Equipe.

That's come from Marca so has zero credibility. Besides, even Real are not stupid enough to agree personal terms with another club's player without getting permission and Suarez is away in Brazil. More likely Real have asked Liverpool for permission to negotiate with Suarez's agent and have propsed a deal.
