Pretty pointless I know, but kind of made me realise how each player has their role in the team, and backs up the idea that it is not a team of complete players that we want, but a complete team.
The ultimate Tiger would have -
The work rate of Matthew Richardson
The silk of Nathan Brown
The potential of Trent Cotchin
The size of Troy Simmonds
The pace of Brett Deledio
The clearance work of Shane Tuck
The premiership experience of Kane Johnson
The long bomb of Chris Newman
The left boot of Jordy McMahon
The burst of Nathan Foley
The cool head and footy brain of Joel Bowden
The spoil of Will Thursfield
The tackle of Richard Tambling
The guns of Kel Moore
The consistent improvement of Matt White
The reliable set shot of Mitch Morton
The enthusiasm of Jack Riewoldt
The debut of Dean Polo
The sticky fingers of Graham Polak
The heart of Adam Pattison
The toughness of Daniel Jackson
The mongrel of Jake King
The 55 metre long goal of Kayne Pettifer
The abilty to dominate Coburg of Greg Tivendale
The ball winning ability of Mark Coughlan
The undeniable good looks of Cleve Hughes
The hardness at the contest of Luke McGuane
The ability to kick 6 goals against Brisbane in Brisbane at the peak of their powers of Jay Schulz
The friendliness to supporters of Chris Hyde
The pedigree of Andrew Raines
The height of Angus Graham
The alleged "X-Factor" of Daniel Connors
The cult hero status of Andrew Collins
The cheap draft position of David Gourdis
Obviously there are some notable omissions, nothing personal, but they'll earn the spot in the team I'm sure once they sort out their role. I reckon out of the players on our list, Lids is the one with the most assets. Quick as, confident, highly skilled, classy, great kick on both feat, tall for a midfielder, versatile, strong, great mark, good around goals. Can't say he looks to be matching the likes of Patto, Jack and Richo for enthusiasm and work rate just yet though. Looking at it all, he will be some player.
As for the whole list, we have the ingredients for a very good side. The only thing missing was on-field leadership, which I could have given to Joel because he is clearly a leader, he just doesn't always lead in the right direction. We need to unearth a Brett Kirk or Luke Hodge type of leader from our list. Let's get welding!
